Okay, I will say I bet there are others who have the same opinion like Cowboys fans and Witten's family. But I like Witten but he's not as good as Gates... But they are both very good so it's really just a matter of opinion but i'd bet a weeks pay that if you asked GM's, other players and coaches who was better 80% would say Gates.

In Wittens prime, I bet it would be 50-50 among GM's. Now, when the rules changed to flag football a couple of years ago, it swung things Gates way, but for all the reasons Gold mentioned, when blocking as well as receiving were factored equal, GM's would be split

A pretty objective Cowboys fan. I'm not saying Staubach was better than Montana. Gates is flashier, no doubt. Beinga Cowboys fan gives you a full appreciation for how good Witten is

I've lived in Texas for Witten's entire career so i've seen him plenty. I like Witten as a player but IMO gates is the better "receiver". We also need to think about Gates had LT stealing from him for a large chunk of his career, the Cowboys have been pretty much a passing team Witten's entire career.

EDIT... Also in the drafts we have done Witten has never been picked ahead of Gates so my 80% suggestion was maybe a bit low when it comes to all of us...
