might have something to do with having the bases loaded. u have to be perfect. that's why I think walking Coughlan was stupid

You need to throw something else with 2 strikes, make the hitter go out of the zone to beat you...

Had Blanton not hung a few in a row right down the middle then Roberts would be hailed a genius for getting Chapman out of the game. Blanton was up 0-2, no reason to groove one inside.

Still, hard to feel bad about a close Maeda-Stripling-Baez-Blanton loss.

Miguel Monteros grand slam was the 3rd pinch hit grand slam in NLCS history. And the first since 1999, Ricky Ledee. Yeah, luck.

Looks to me like he's out of gas from a long season, judging by his last few... I don't know if your 'pen can save you from your SP.

Oh yeah, and taking Lester out was a blessing. He was probably going to end up threatening for a complete game.

Dodgers missed a real opportunity there. They were supposed to lose but not like that.

you really don't want to get me started on joe buck... i'm sure he plays well in the midwest, but you won't find much support on the west (and i assume the east) coast for joe 'i-don't-know-what-the-f-goes-on-out-side-of-my-passed-down-region-of-influence' buck. easiest way to get in to a fight in sf.. just wear an 'i like joe buck' tee shirt

a loss is a loss... roberts will learn and adjust. you won't see blanton in a meaningful pressure situation the rest of the series i'd wager
Oh I know but they had a chance to steal one against a lefty and let it fail.

If the Dodgers are to win this series, they have to beat Lester at some point. Probably. Cubs are heavy favorites in this series.

I wasn't willing my buddies(on Cubs wagon) that this would be far from the easy sweep they were expecting. Tonight's game showed the Dodgers will hang. Still think it goes at least 6.

Kershaw is a key to making that happen.

After a great year, Joe Blanton remembers he was....joe Blanton at the the very wrong time.

he hung 2 of those bad boys in a row.

dont' see that very often.

Yeah, they gotten out of thatI really liked their chances of taking this one.

Lester, Wood, Monty and Chapman all gone, AND you still have Jansen.

Lol good, i will take that too!

Time for the rest of the world to meet Kyle Hendricks.

Joe had no choice pulling Lester. He can sit and stare down Joe as much as he wants, but two great catches by fowler and extremely hard contact against Lester, Maddon did not have a choice. Just my point of Hendricks getting hit in the arm last start, any of these other cub starters would have fought for their 5 innings so they got the win. Lester gets 6 and still whines.

If Joe feels he might need Chapman in the 8th inning, he just needs to start the 8th inning. In all reality, the 8th was the save against the meat of the order. The ninth would have been the bottom third.

Everyone had the matchups figured out, but Roberts decided he would rather have Blanton against Miggy instead of Contrares against his rookie lefty. Pretty good chance the cubs were scoring anyway, but it was more to get out from Chapman. If Chapman does not mind pitching the 8th, then he should not mind letting Rondon or anyone else earning the save in the ninth.

Now 10 out of 17 inherited runners have scored on Chapman.

Looking at the score and knowing what i know, yeah ill take it!

A loss is a loss. If they get CLOSE to winning 4 games and win none there is nothing to be happy about. I understand it is one game and you have Kershaw in Game 2 but for all the praise of Kershaw for winning 2 games and that epic close, he still isnt pitching well. That being said Kershaw needs a great performance in Game 2 bc the Cubs are getting hot
