Nah...he's still very young and very cheap. I think we hold on to him and get his conditioning right.

I'm not totally convinced on this one, and I trust the Giants' brass. But I have a gut feeling we'll regret keeping him.

I agree with this. Not saying that this is the 100% correct way to go about it, just a gut feeling.

Besides, I'm not sure how much trade value he'd really have at this point anyway. When a team is dead set on trading a guy one year removed from a .330-25-90 season, that's a huge red flag for me if I'm the GM on the other line. The only player(s) we'd be likely to get back in a trade for Pablo is another talented guy who hasn't been able to put it altogether as well. In my humble opinion anyway.

I think you'd package him with a stud pitching prospect like Wheeler. Those 2 could bring back someone decent.

The LAST guy I'd trade would be Wheeler. We need him in two years to replace Zeets.

Well if we keep our current MO that means we just keep having awesome SP and no lineup. Can any pitching be traded for a bat?

I think we're starting to develop hitters. Panda last year, Buster this year. Belt next year.

Elite pitching is so scarce that I just don't want to trade it. And I think Wheeler can be elite. He's kind of like a combo of Cain and MadBum. He's going to be up next September I think, and could be in the rotation in 2012. He's got a 95 mph fastball and a 80 mph curve. He was working on the change when he had the fingernail issue that caused him to miss a lot of games. Still, he struck out 70 in something like 48 innings in the Sally League.

Expect him to develop the change this year. He'll probably start the season at Richmond and be in Fresno at the ASB. You just don't see a lot of guys who can command a 95 mph fastball with sink.

If you couldn't tell, I'm real high on this kid. He can pitch forward (off of his fastball) until he learns to command the change. Tidrow et al are very good at getting our prospects to throw the change. He'd be 22 if he made the rotation in 2012. They might want to wait to call him up in 2012 to be sure he isn't a Super Two.

Also, in 2012 Zito becomes a lot more tradeable. He'd have two years left on his contract, plus a $7M buyout in 2014. If we ate half of the salary ($19MM in 2012 and $20MM in 2013) there might be a team willing to pick him up midseason in 2012 -- then we can call Wheeler up.

lol, hey robo..I was, too..for an hour

Now I want my pound of flesh in Philly :D

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm feeling better today. I was thinking to myself and realized that we have Jonathan Sanchez goin' tomorrow and he's thrown a no-hitter before, which was as good as a perfect game since the only blemish was an error. He's certainly capable of shutting the Philllies down.

+1. Wheeler will be elite. 2012 has been penciled in as the year the Giants win it all for quite some time now. No problem gettin' a little head start this year, though. :).
