I won't be watching the world series since the Dodgers won't be in it, but the Dodgers turned it around nicely this year and with some adjustments in the off season, they can improve

I now have zero interest in the World Series. It'll just be the lesser of two evils winning anyway.

I do have to say if the Dodgers were going to lose, I'm delighted to see that punkass Kershaw get rocked.

The Padres will be competing for the division next year, Dodger fans. And not with your Magic Johnson-suzed payroll.

That large payroll will not continue for more then a few years though. Once they get their farm system going and start cranking out home grown talent, they will get better without out-spending everyone. The big buyout was to jump start them into contention.

Oh please tell me Cards "fans" aren't going to start coming out of the woodwork?!
We are missing fans on our MLB board. We did recruiting on Rams fans but never picked up robusts Cards fans

I think my profile clearly shows who my baseball team is dipshit.

Cards are a great team to root for. Dodgers try to buy a ring . Wacha and th cards say NO!!!!!!!

17/25 playoff guys were drafted by the cards. Incredible.

Actually, maybe my profile doesn't. Due to te flawed "three favorite teams"

Had to demote the twins for football season if you were still oblivious.

Yes, because it's that easy...

If we were to even look 4 years down the line in 2017...

Gonzalez - $21.5M
Crawford - $21M
Kemp - $21.5M
Greinke - $24M
Ethier - $18M
Puig - $6.5M
Rye - $7M

That's $119.5M just for 7 guys, and most of them are signed beyond 2017. If the Dodgers re-sign Kershaw, I'll take a guesstimate that it'll be between $25-30M per season, so just say $27.5 as a ballpark average.

So the Dodgers 4 years down the line could be paying close to $150M for just 1/3 of the roster (8 guys). And with a farm system currently probably in the bottom half in baseball, I don't see how many guys will be up by then to make up those additional roster spots, unless some remarkable turnaround happens. They'll probably need to go out on the market and look for guys to fill those voids.
