I actually now think the Mets win in 6. Too much pitching for NYM and not enough for Chicago
All the Mets did was win their home games. Series isn't over by any means, not with that Chicago offense.

They say you're not really in trouble until you lose a home game, so let's see what happens Tuesday.

That only applies in basketball.

No reason why the Mets should lose this series. They beat the Cubs best 2 pitchers. Series should honestly be done in 5.....6 at the max

Well the only thing is that Lester and Arrieta are both capable of winning games 5 and 6.

That said, I simply don't see Hendricks winning a Game 7 in NY vs deGrom.

I wonder if Cubs happen to all 3 in Chicago (which I highly doubt) if they would dare swap Arrieta and Hendricks so Jake can be their Game 7 starter

meh I dont think that would be a good idea. Hendricks losing would then kill the momentum and give the Mets more hope and he would presumably be on shorter rest?

Arrieta would be the perfect chance to go for the kill shot after 3 straight wins. Game 7 anything can happen(even for Hendricks i guess though i don't see it) so risking losing the momentum and to play a game 7 on the road vs deGrom wouldnt be ideal.

*Note. Fellow Mets fans, don't pay much attention to us here. Just two neutral baseball fans talking extreme hypotheticals lol

Yes. The only chance you have of Arrieta pitching three times in the WS is if he doesn't pitch games 6 or 7 of the nlcs. So, if Cubs have s 3-2 lead, then you definitely try to win Game 6 without using up Arrieta.

Now, that's straight logic. That doesn't mean that's what baseball men are going to decide.

*of course, if it's just too good of a match-up to put Arrieta against whomever the Mets have for game 6, then that's what Maddon will do

•When was the last time a batter in the postseason missed a HR by a few feet just wide of the fair/foul pole...and then just 2 pitches later in the AB, straightened it out for a HR???

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Murphy heats up chilly Citi:
One of the more improbable hot streaks in postseason history continued in the first inning, when Mets 2nd baseman Daniel Murphy smashed a Jake Arrieta curveball over the right-field fence for a two-run homer. In addition to giving the Mets a 3-0 lead, Murphy's shot made him the eighth player in Major League history to homer in four straight postseason games, and the first in Mets history to homer five times in a single postseason. With five October homers, Murphy also matched Mike Piazza's franchise record for most career postseason long balls.

"He looks like the best hitter on the planet right now," Cubs catcher Miguel Montero said.

If the Mets don't win this series its all their own fault. They bet who they were suppose to lose to and now are going up against the none dominant Cubs pitchers and have Matz and Degrom pitching. I am not going to say sweep but I will be shocked if this series is tied at 2

It's silly man, if I were pitching to him I would just pitch him outside. If you walk him, you walk him, he's so locked in right now it's dangerous to throw him anything that he can pull.

He ice cream scooped, one armed a very good breaker at his ankles. It was luck and nothing Arrieta did wrong at all

That's what they say in the NBA. I don't think it applies here, especially after the Cubs have lost both games even though their best two pitchers pitched. Now they get to face deGrom.

Coming into these playoffs would you ever have imagined that Daniel Murphy would be intentionally walked to face Cespedes? Because that also happened tonight.
