Padres trade Kemp to the Braves for Olivera. Olivera will be DFA'd when he comes off the suspended list. Lol.

It's more like the Braves gave the Padres some 28 million or whatever for Matt Kemp.

In the last few days, the Giants gave up...

Duffy
Bickford
Mejia
Santos
Fox
Susac

for

Moore
Smith
Nunez

I am not a big fan of the Smith trade, but the moves as a whole I like A LOT. Losing Bickford SUCKS. Losing Duffy sucks, but more on an emotional level. As a player, he was probably playing over his head, and he suffered a MAJOR injury (strained Achilles), so who knows how he will be moving forward. Losing Fox kinda sucks, but dude is only 18 or 19, so he is still 4 or 5 years away. A lot can happen in 4 or 5 years. Santos, Mejia and Susac are good MLB prospects, but not game changers.

In return, the Giants now have probably the best 1-4 in the Bigs (or at least right there in the discussion), a replacement for Affeldt, which the team has been looking for since '14 and a Zobrist-type who will fill in at 3B until Arroyo is ready (MAYBE 2017??).

Fowler said Kemp was underperforming and over paid.....

Something like "not exactly 'Charlie Hustle"
Did you see Kemps comments out the door? Something to the effect of...

"I am excited about finally playing in a baseball city".

Nice move, Kemp, toss a grenade as you leave the room.

What a doosh.

That's why the Dodgers got rid of Kemp, because he is/was a doosh.

Joc Pederson's showing a lot of improvement this year IMO. Batting .252/.346/.510 with a very good 130 wRC+. He's seen his K% drop from 29.1% to 25.3% (still above average, but a significant drop nonetheless) and he has seen a significant decrease in his swinging strike percentage (from 14% last year to 9.7% in 2016). He's also making a lot more contact (76.7% in 2016, was 66.7% last year).

it's been a pretty ugly 2nd half for the Giants rotation thus far (4.77 ERA, 5.04 FIP, 1.8 HR/9).

And the pen.

Come to think of it, the hitting has been rather painful as well.

At least we have the defense.. Nope. Not that either.

Just a complete shit-show, up and down, top to bottom.
