You're all over the place, bud. You said Kershaw didn't have the stats to be an all-star, that's simply not true.

Hard to express tongue in cheek banter and sarcasm through a message board. It's simply Giants vs. Dodgers haterade that I'm throwing around. Kershaw is a great pitcher, just not having a Kershaw-type year and with a Giants manager at the helm, it pleases me to no end that Kershaw was omitted from the squad and is dependent on fan voting to be an All-Star. Fair? Probably not. Delightful to Giants fans? Abso-fucking-lutely.

I have said this on the Giants board, and I feel like a bit of a traitor saying this here, but...

Assuming the ASG is supposed to reflect THIS YEAR, who can defend having Bum in the discussion as the ASG starter while not having Kershaw on the roster at all?

Bum is not having a horrible year, but I would say that BY THE NUMBERS, he is a fringe all-star at best. Pretty much in the exact same boat as Kershaw.

If you are going to widen the criteria for the ASG to include last season and the reputation of the player in question, than both Bum and Kershaw are no-brainer all-stars.

The Padres brass has fully endorsed AJ Preller despite the shit hitting the fan and this having no clear direction, a lame duck manager, confused and alienated pissed-off fans and a true worst-case scenario for results of his failed experiment. Whether he sells or buys at the deadline, he has a blank check and ringing endorsement.

So, it'll be different this time, right? This time it'll work, right? Just a minor tweak or two?

Can you even imagine if the Padres decide to blow this shit up now and sell everything but the pinetar? Shields and Kimbrel on the open market could change everything. The Dodgers would be racing down the 5 to buy everything not nailed down.

What a crazy outcome after the preseason hopefulness. It's actually kind of sad, I was hoping the Pads were relevant again

Detroit may become sellers and making David Price available. The Dodgers front office has their work cut out to get him and I say do it if a deal can be made. Imagine David Price and Cueto joining the Dodgers for the 2nd half run. With Washington and the Cardinals waiting in the playoffs, the Dodgers could sure use them to match up with their pitching.

1.36 ERA in his last 10 starts

He's struck out 101 batters in those 72.2 innings, with a mere 11 walks. In a 162 game pace, he'd strike out 344 batters in 248 innings.

Kershaw's numbers will probably fall short of 2013/14, but he's inserting himself back into the CYA conversation. He's currently rocking a 12.0 K/9 on the season (his career high was 10.8 last year) and could very well top 300 strikeouts.

When a 137 ERA+ is one of the worst of your career, you're a pretty good pitcher.

You got it right. The Champs are on the move post All-Star again.

This is fun to watch, but this is just the calm before the storm. The Giants schedule in August is one of the toughest months I have ever seen a team have to go through. However, once we get to September, it is smooth sailing again.

If we are still within striking distance in 4 weeks, look out...

I know. The schedule is brutal but I like our chances. This time the Dodgers may pose probably a greater threat than in the past with their pitching. Nevertheless I am hoping that history repeats itself. Pence is on a tear.

It isn't. You may be trying to access it through an old link? All the board links changed a few weeks back and I had to update my bookmark...
