Pirates in St. Louis this week. Lets play ball and hope for good weather!

Mark, One thing I am really liking right now is the Cubs have some make up games to play and beginning tonight the Cubs have 23 games in 23 days with their next day off being September 14th and the bulk of these games are away from home.

September should provide us all with a lot of thrilling NL action since the 3 divisions and the 2 wildcards are all up for grabs.

I’m not too worried about the Cards. They’ll start to come back to earth. As for the Cubs, they have incredible depth right now and they still have kris Bryant coming back. Daniel Murphy looks like he is exactly what the Cubs offense needed, which is a steady bat at the top of the line up, and Cole Hamels looks like the ace of the staff now.

I don't think the timing could have been any better for the Cardinals to promote Mike Shildt to permanent field manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. Congratulations Mike!

Cole Hamels is someone who should come back down to earth, too.

Cubs are probably going to be the only team in the NL pushing 100 wins if I was to guess which means the Cardinals will have to beat the Cubs one way or the other.

The team with the best chance to knock off the Cubs, imo, is the Dodgers .

Clayton, At last check the Mets were beating the Cubs 8-1 in the top of the 8th this afternoon even though they won the suspended game from last night 2-1 in 11 innings. So the name of the game for us Cardinals fans is to just keep on doing what we have been doing for the entire month of August (20-5) since there is still a lot of baseball left to be played. GO REDBIRDS!

Yeah, I’m most worried about the Dodgers, but they haven’t looked so scary lately. The Cards would probably be tough in the playoffs, but if they had that series, I would be able to go to some games since I live in STL. The NL looked wide open before the cubs acquired Hamels and Murphy. Now, it looks like the Cubs are the clear favorites. Anyone could upset the cubs though.

I'm not sure what to think of Hamels.

All I know is that his last 3 playoffs starts involve 16 innings, 16 hits, 16 runs and zero wins. He might be on fire right now but starting him in the playoffs might also be playing with fire.

Meh, he had good years and bad years. Revivals, like I hope Hamels predicament to be, happen pretty often. Everyone was ready to dismiss Verlander and all he needed was a change of scenery. If Hamels keeps it up in the regular season, I’ll bet he does in the post season as well.

he's a borderline HOFer who struggled a bit in Arlington (who hasn't?), getting out of there was only going to help his ERA.

Pirates send David Freese to the Dodgers.
sad to see the Pirates revert back to what they do best, dump salary and get a noname back in return.

I don't know why the Dodgers wanted Freese since they already have a good infield.

Lester's looked a lot better in his last 4 starts though he's still not really getting a lot of strikeouts.

Of all teams to end the Cardinals 10 straight series wins the Reds did it. That's baseball!

Wow was nice to get the series win against the Cubs tonight with a chance for a sweep tomorrow.

The Cubs kicked the Brewers ass back in April going 7 - 1 against then and out scoring them 30 - 8. Since that time the Brewers have gone 5 - 2 against the Cubs and out scored them 33-19.

A 5 series win streak. The 6 players added since the all star break have seemed to have helped. Hopefully they can keep it up through the last month of the season

Currently the 3 best teams in the NL are all in the NL Central.

I feel like that says more about the NL than the NL Central. Brewers and Cardinals both seem to have more legs in their late season runs than they did last year, though.
