Brock, We feel the pain together! I agree with you that Matheny fails miserably when it comes to managing but he has to play the hand that is dealt to him which basically means very little starting pitching, no relief pitching, and a lineup of hitters who do very little hitting. We continue to carry so much dead weight in that lineup that it's unbelievable. I don't even know how we are ahead of the Pirates and Reds in the standings to be honest with you. I'm sorry to sound so negative but I'm not a happy camper right now.

Orlando Arcia might have one of the worst offensive seasons ever for a shortstop. He's hitting .197/.231/.251 with a 29 OPS+.

a small miracle, the Pirates won 2 of 3 against the Nationals. Mr. Harper struckout three times today and three times yesterday.

Mark, I'm just hoping the Cardinals will be within striking distance at the all star break with a weekend series at home coming up against the Reds leading into the break.

will the NL run out of catchers to play in the All star game? My guess is that you can't be happy that Molina is now on the roster.

Mark, I'm never happy with any Cardinals players making the all star team because I would prefer them getting a few days of rest instead to be recharged for the rest of the season. Hopefully Yadi won't get to play in the all star game.

All Star games are meaningless to me in any sport.

The Pirates really can't allow Cervelli to get another concussion this season. our backup is aweful behind the plate.
Will this become a issue that MLB is going to have to address?

Do the Pirates have any good catchers in their minor league system? If not, maybe they can get one before the trading deadline.

Who didn't see that shutout for the Cardinals after scoring 14 the night before. What a joke of a team. Matheny keeps puting, I can't see the ball, Pham in the 2 hole, and Ozuna in the clean up spot. I am hoping STL keeps losing so there is a big shake up after the season. But Mo will trade for Moose to try to make a splash, and He is the last player they need.

Brock, And just think that earlier this season Pham was leading the entire national league in hitting. When we didn't get Stanton we settled for Ozuna which was a big mistake. I hear you in what you are saying about wishing for more Cardinals loses but in my heart of hearts I just can't wish for any Cardinals loses because we have seen year after year recently with disappointing endings to the Cardinals season that no big shake ups take place even though I agree with you that we need a lot of shake up at the top.

I think that the Pirates are attempting to show off at least one of their extra outfielders as possable trade bait.

We all knew they had a .500 roster to start the season, so all of this is expected. Fowler turned out to be the worst signing of the past decade. Ozuna isn't that bad. We knew he wasn't Stanton. They just don't have the consistant bats. I hope they don't make a trade unless it is for a player under contract for a few years (and that is rare). The minor league is more void than I had seen it in years. They don't even have an older player who is playing well that they could unload.

Myles, I've got to give you a high five for this: You said before the season started that the Cardinals would end up being close to a .500 team and if things don't change after the all star break you are going to be spot on! My biggest problem with this current Cardinals team is not their bats, but their relief pitching from innings 6 through 9. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can't count the times the Cardinals have been leading after 5 innings this season and lost the game. We don't even know what the word 'closer' means because we don't have one!

Mark, Beat those Brewers to death going into the all star break so that we will at least have a race in the NL Central after the all star break!

Cervelli is out again with concussion symptoms.
Diaz is hitting well right now and for where this team is going (IE..nowhere) he is good enough.
After that they have nothing at Catcher. The fact they bring Jacob Stallings up constantly proves the point they are in bad shape.

Just keep beating those Brewers all weekend long and we might have a race in the NL Central with several teams involved after the all star break.

I kind of feel bad about smacking the Brewers around right before the All-star break.

When was the last 5 game sweep in MLB? I bet its a been a long time, 5 game series are rare as hell these days.
