so which outfielder do the Pirates trade and for what? We need to think about a starting catcher as the future of Cervelli is up in the air due to his history of concussions.
Given Marte & Polanco's injury histories, none of them.

Any Yankee catchers coming up on FA???

We've got a Triple A catcher at Memphis that we will give you at no charge since he can't hit his weight.

At first glance, it's a first line, but the PCL is a notorious hitters league. Among players with 150+ PA, he barely ranks in the top 70 in OPS. That's not to say he isn't exaggerating and I don't think Kelly's gotten a really good look at the major league level, I would just take a grain of salt with PCL stats.

scoutyjones doesn't get it! He needs to check out his brief stats at the MLB level and get back to me because the dude can't hit his weight at the MLB level.

At the break, Cubs lead the NL in team batting average, obp, ops, runs, and wins.

Looking at the data for minor league catchers across the board now, if there's one who can hit, he's probably 35 years old, slow and closer to being a "coach" than a prospect.

John, I noticed that too looking at all the data I could find on minor league catchers. I can't remember when young catching has been this weak across the board in the minor leagues, can you?

who in hell wants to be a catcher? The only kids who get to catch are the ones who can't play SS or throw 103 mph.

John, You've got a great point there but for a talented kid who can play the game of baseball, and especially if his name is Johnny Bench, the competition might not be as tough to move on up the baseball ladder.

LOL...I don't get it? What part of limited, or in your terms "brief stats" don't you understand when judging him for his MLB level play so far? How'd Yadi do hitting his first handful of years? Dudes a catcher who's very good with the glove.

scouty, All I was trying to say is the Pacific Coast League is a run scoring league with very little quality pitching. During Kelly's time in St. Louis this year to back up Tony's boy, who can't hit either, while Molina was on the DL, Kelly looked terrible at the plate attempting to hit MLB pitching. I have no problem with Kelly's defense but he's got a lot of work to do on offense before he can get to the MLB level and stay there. It's not just me saying this, many baseball experts that I read are saying the same thing.

The Brewers have good young pitchers but their hitting attack is very weak. They don't look like a team that'll be in contention at the end.
