I kind of feel bad about smacking the Brewers around right before the All-star break.

When was the last 5 game sweep in MLB? I bet its a been a long time, 5 game series are rare as hell these days.

steelparrot, I'll bet you are right about a 5 game series sweep even though the sweep has not been completed yet. My post to Mark was not meant to be putting down the Brewers in any way because they have proven themselves to be good all season long. It was meant to be that I enjoy close races when September rolls around, and of course hoping that my Cardinals will be a part of a close race. At the moment I need to be careful for what I wish for since the Pirates are hot and my Cardinals remain in a tailspin so we might be chasing the Pirates, Cubs, and Brewers soon.

I know it hasnt been completed yet, but even 4-1 is kind of huge, 5-0 is just a massacre. I just wish it was the Cubs we were drilling.

As of right now, my Pirates have a .500 roster depending on injury/good years bad years, if you can get anywhere over 90 wins, we cant follow.

steelparrot, We can only dream about 90 wins with what has happened in the past 18 hours with the Cardinals firing their manager and both hitting coaches. But you never know since sports is crazy and this might be the kick in the butt that we needed to get back on the winning track.

Another game where Matheny leaves a pitcher in too long. If Matheny is managing the Cardinals next year it will be a travesty. I know he's dealing with the players Mo gave him, but he can NOT manage a bull pen. Please DeWitt, fire Mo, Matheny, and Mabry. This Cardinal team needs a total make over.

Brock, Two of your three wishes have come true with Matheny and Mabry gone. Now all we've got to do is get rid of Mo and that might not be too easy since DeWitt seems to love him so much.

A regular broom doesnt work for a 5 game sweep.

outside of Yelich/Cain/Shaw/Agilar, they've been getting some lousy offensive performances. The pitching's looked good, but some of those starting pitchers look like regression candidates (particularly Anderson/Chacin/Guerra). Peralta's showing potential, but he's only made 7 major league starts.

I actually listened to 4 of the 5 games on radio. Have not admitted that in years.

Cubs fans must be dancing in the streets going into the all star break after what the Pirates just did to the Brewers.

I don't feel bad at all. It's about time we smacked the Brewers around for a change!!!

so which outfielder do the Pirates trade and for what? We need to think about a starting catcher as the future of Cervelli is up in the air due to his history of concussions.
