John, You make a great point because when you look back at the college baseball world series champions it is loaded with teams from the south. I don't ever recall the black bears of Maine ever winning one of them but I could be wrong, LOL.
Maine actually did have some pretty good teams but I don't know that they won any titles. The top programs are in the SEC, for sure. The California teams will always produce contenders. You never know. Coastal Carolina won it 2 years ago.

We are now heading out to Milwaukee where it has been death valley for us recently. Plus our middle relief is very suspect.

John, LSU is always good in college baseball and Arizona State has won quite a few college world series too.

Yep, Coastal Carolina located in the small town of Conway, South Carolina had to do their celebrating in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where celebrating is always going on, about 15 miles away, when they won the college world series. Their football stadium is not even as big as most high school stadiums but they have sent several players to the NFL including Josh Norman.

Mark, beat up on those Brewers . . . PLEASE!

I asked John to get his Reds to do that too but he didn't listen to me.

Congratulations to Albert Pujols for becoming the 32nd player in MLB history to join the 3,000 hit club!

He sure gave me a lot of happy moments when he wore the birds on the bats uniform in St. Louis.

Next guy on the 3,000 hit list is Miggy, who's about 300 short.
Think how easy it is to get 3,000 hits.
Cano would need 500. Reyes, about 900.
Markakis 900.

Altuve, at age 28, has about 1,300 hits.
No other active player even has a chance at 3,000.
Or 4,000.

I should qualify that ... no active player who we recognize yet has a chance. There's a rookie in there who has 32 hits who may end up with 3,000 someday.

Good game going on right now. If Carpenter would've gotten the call it would be over but I like the fight they're showing

John, Baseball keeps stats on everything like no other sport.

If I looked hard enough I would probably be able to even find this stat:

What is the record number of consecutive wins by any team with a 3-2 final score in each game?

Well, the Cardinals did this in 3 straight games until they won today 8-6 but stats or no stats it's about time that some of those one run games go to the good guys.

Molina out for a month after surgery. Time to see what Kelly can do

I am not as high on Kelly that others are. He is hitting under .200 in AAA, and his ST defense wasn't all that good. I hope he proves me wrong, I will gladly he some crow on this one.

Sounds like he'll fit in just fine with the current lineup.

This is probably a big blow for the Cardinals but its better to happen now than later on in the season. Kelly might just be at a low point in terms of confidence but hopefully he makes the most of his opportunity.

ST is ST...dudes a minor league gold glover and D wasn't his issue. the issue was whether he could actually hit. His sporadic appearances last year did him no good on staying sharp offensively or defensively. And it's not like Molina was a bat when he started at Kelly's age.

My Pirates ship sure has been taking on water with losses in 5 of their last 6 games.

But i would think that the #1 prospect in STL Minors could hit the friggin ball. Defense out of the question, the offense will take a huge hit.

What bothers me most about losing Molina for at least a month is his managing ability on the field and especially with pitchers. On hopefully a positive note, many triple A players turn out to be pleasant surprises when given the chance and let's hope this is the case with Kelly.
