Cards minor leagues is littered with OF'ers and pitchers. And you have to worry about 25 man/40 man rosters. Learn some baseball...this isn't a video game

You made my point! The last time I checked Dexter Fowler is a light hitting outfielder so since the Cardinals minor league system is so littered with outfielders why not call one of them up who can actually hit? Maybe you need to learn some baseball yourself.

This is the straw.....Matheny ha ssome love affair with Carpenter....Gyorko is hitting .320 and has been raking vs his old team. This STL team is going NOWHERE if Matheny and Mo are leading this team. It has gotten to the point that everyone sees the problem. Maybe Gyorko fucked Matheny's wife or kicked his dog.
Yeah, i hate to see Carpenter struggling so much and I'd love to see him go back to his old self but I think teams have figured him out on top of some normal regression from getting older. His May numbers can't continue without a change. I think even those guys have to come to grips with that sometime in the next week.

Clayton, You're spot on with your thoughts on Carpenter. He has done some really good things for the Cardinals in the past but maybe father time is catching up with him. Like you said, his May numbers cant' continue without a change.

His ABs look similar to what they used to (from what Ive seen) and the ball is always finding the other teams glove. To me that signals that people have figured him out. Not just shifts but shifting the strategy against him.

I think the Cards major and minor league teams are littered with OK players. Some with lots of potential. I don't know what they should do with Fowler, Carpenter and the others who are hitting sub .200. I think Matheny is afraid to give up on them too early.

You have to work within the confines of the 25 man/40 man roster...you can't just pick and choose like at a grocery store. Wake up

I'm hoping Kelly lights it up in Molina's absence so that he can be a 1st base option when Molina returns. We desperately need some hitting in the line up.

My fear is that we will stay a little over .500 and trade away prospects for an aging pretty good bat.

Well, unless the Cardinals trade Fowler or DFA him, they would have to find a different spot on the roster for a minor leaguer. You can't just send Fowler to the minors. He's a veteran and can refuse that.

All the talk here is that McCutchen is coming back for a 3 game series with the Giants.
Surprisingly not a single game was sold out.

scouty, Hopefully we can agree to disagree on how we would handle the Cardinals roster if we were the GM but the good thing is that we both love our REDBIRDS.

Myles, All of us Cardinals fans are hoping that Kelly lights it up but realistically I think that's a pipe dream. I agree with you that we desperately need some hitting in the line up especially because our pitching is very iffy.

Hey John, Who would the Reds give us for Fowler? Don't laugh because it could happen.

Mark, Are you forgetting that the Pirates don't have a great home attendance no matter who is in town?

I doubt any serious trades intra-division. But I don't think Fowler is on their radar, to be honest.

The $64,000 question for today.

Mike Matheny isn't so dense as to sit Gyorko today, is he.

LOL...Kelly over JMart at 1B???!!! Ludicrous. Kelly needs to go back down to the minors to prep for replacing Molina in a few years, or to build up cred as a trade chip

John, I can certainly understand why Fowler is not on the Red's radar. I just wanted your reaction since Fowler came to us from the Cubs.

Of course Kelly is the current replacement for Molina for the future. However, if he can hit well in the next month, the Cards can use him at first from time to time. JMart can play right in those games, unless of course, Kelly can play outfield. This team needs to get some hitting in the lineup. 0 for 12 to start isn't good, but hopefully that doesn't continue.
