Come on man, you can't lose confidence that quickly! We just won a series against the Nationals and we are heading to Wrigley with at least a two game lead no matter what the Cubs and Brewers do tonight.

Don't confuse confidence with hope. I still think they can win the division. Just not confident. The Cubs get to play the 2nd worst team in the NL and we play at the Diamondbacks. These 4 games at Wrigley against a hot Cubs team worry me. The Brewers may be in the best place. They get the Padres, Pirates, Reds and Rockies. They could easily slip through as the Cubs/Cards beat each other up.

Myles, my friend, I can assure you that I have never confused confidence with hope. I'm the only Cardinals fan here who has believed in our team since opening day and I'm not going to change my mind until the math says I have to.

You posted here recently that you would be confident if we went to Wrigley with a 3 game lead. Guess what, we have that 3 game lead so you should be confident. Not only that, we have a 3 game lead over the Brewers too since both the Cubs and Brewers lost tonight. It's been a great day and night to be a Cardinals fan!

By the way, in case you don't know this, the Cardinals at the Cubs game tomorrow night (Thursday night) will be televised nationwide on FOX with coverage beginning at 7:00PM eastern time.

I’ll never understand how a major league pitcher walks the lead off man up 3 runs in the 9th. Lob the fucker over the plate if you fall behind in the count. I’d rather give up a hr than a walk. Make them at least earn it

You and I both have given Carpenter a lot of grief this season and rightfully so. But on this night he got all of that Kimbrel fastball which turned out to be the game winning run. We probably wouldn't have even seen Carp tonight if Wong had not gotten injured but I sure hope he won't be out long. I keep waiting for that day to see CMart pitch a clean 9th inning but it sure hasn't happened much lately.

The bottom line is the good guys won tonight!

Boy that game got intense. Great job by Flaherty. It's nice to have that 4 game cushion on the Cubs. They are on the outside looking in. This is far from over though. I hope this playoff atmosphere get Goldy fired up. A couple doubles last night was nice to see.

Now my pessimism. Wacha is pitching today.
