Unreal that the Pirates are only 2.5 out.
I'm hoping the Pirates can take the division, as the current one game playoff format is nonsense.
The Pirates are on pace to have the 2nd best record in all of MLB over the course of a 162 game season, but are currently slated for a one and done scenario.
It's wrong.
They need to either make the opening round a best of three or seed the division winners and two wild cards by record.
I agree the one game playoffs is nonsense but they'll never seed the 4 playoffs teams by record unless this happen more frequently. It defeats the purpose of winning your division.I would love a best of 3 though
I agree on both points. I don't think there are many people who would dislike a 3-game WC series. Not necessarily, as winning its division should guarantee a club a playoff sport, but not an automatic bypass of the one game playoff if they finish with the fourth or fifth best record in their league.
If anything, what is being defeated right now is the thoroughness of a 162 game season, aimed at legitimately determining whom the best teams are, with the one game wild card round.
My guess is we won't be playing a 1 gamer against pittsburgh. Likely we will be playing STL. That next series against Pitt will be great though. Cubs and Pirates match up wellLets not allow Scrubbie fans get ahead of themselves...Arrieta, one year wonder, is better than Cole? Nah...and it isn't a series you will be playing, it will be a one game, winner moves on...good luck with that...
The verb is "are" in the sentence in question [see below]. Writer wasn't placing the object of a transitive verb or of a preposition. So, it's 'WHO,' not 'whom.'*KNOCK KNOCK*
(Who's there?)
To.
(To who?)
TO WHOM!!!!
Yikes. I was agreeing with you and sharing my goofy grammar joke. The verb is "are" in the sentence in question [see below]. Writer wasn't placing the object of a transitive verb or of a preposition. So, it's 'WHO,' not 'whom.'
*************
Writer wrote "aimed at legitimately determining whom the best teams are..."
Invert it: The best teams are WHO [not WHOM].
Or even more easily: aimed at legitimately determining WHO [not whom] are the best teams...
You don't say, "The best person is him." You say, "The best person is he."
QED. Learn your lesson.
Doesn't hurt my feelings at all to see Starlin get ahold of a couple of 'em and down the Cards!
So much for that, eh?Unreal that the Pirates are only 2.5 out.
Honestly didn't expect them to catch the cards or even stay that close for any amount of time.So much for that, eh?
Yeah, but it would've been cooler if they did.Honestly didn't expect them to catch the cards or even stay that close for any amount of time.
