well it is either gagne or carter. they are really the only options unless they trade a combination of defensemen which would make our team worse.

they need to move at least 5 mil. if they have to waive gagne then it would be much better to trade carter.

Gagne has about $4 million in value, I would say. So taking on his contract would only be a slight overpayment. If he stays healthy, though, he plays to his contract's worth. It's worth the risk if all they have to give up are picks or a prospect.

i agree. i do think gagne is worth over 4 mil though. i think 4 mil gets you about 60 points. maybe less. gagne is capable of 35 goals and 70 points. and he is great defensively. kind of like marian hossa. the injuries are a question though.

I say $4 million because his production is hampered by injuries. I wasn't clear about it, but he is worth his contract if he stays healthy all season.

wow. not bad at all. 2 mil, one year. however, if gags is the one that goes, then really their 'replacement' for him is only on for one year. if nik does well, i'm sure he'll get a big pay raise...should be interesting.
