Breaking news: MacT has been fired for losing the draft lottery
So Kenny, if it comes down to Lindholm or Monahan, who should the Flames take?
Meh, I think it's time to swing for the fences (with the thought that Sam Reinhart is waiting in the wings for the Flames for the 2014 entry draft).
Florida could have Huberdeau and MacKinnon down the middle - Frack, that looks good.
I think this draft could be really volatile. The 1st round in particular.
I can certainly see one of Mackinnon, Monahan, Barkov, Nicushkin etc. dropping out of the top 10.
There is so much to like about Drouin, Mackinnon, Jones, Barkov, Lindholm and the rest that someone might get lost in the shuffle.
If the Flames have picked and one of these guys drops past 10th (a la Grigorenko/Forsberg last year) they are in a fantastic position to move up and grab a second elite prospect.
Looking good on the rebuild front Dash.
Wouldn't it be fun to re-visit that moment if in 5 years Ryan Murray is looking like the next Scott Niedermayer and Nail Yakupov is looking like the next Sergei Samsonov?

Lindholm has the 4th best draft eligible points per game average in SEL history:
.84 - D. Sedin (50gp)
.74 - P. Forsberg (23gp)
.69 - H. Sedin (49gp)
.63 - E. Lindholm (48gp)
That's pretty good company.
Do we know which guys are NHL ready and which guys will need some time to adjust? I'm kind of hoping whoever the Devils take can contribute right away.
Unlikely but not impossible when picking 9th.
Monahan is pretty polished and could possibly be ready.
The big Russian defenseman Zadorov could almost certainly come in and play as a bottom pairing guy.
It's highly unlikely that whoever gets picked around 9th will make a serious impact next year (eg. top 6 forward or top 4 D), IMO.
Players drop every year. Last year Forsberg, Grigorenko & Terevainen fell. In 2011 Brandon Saad fell to the 2nd ROUND!!
In 2010 Cam Fowler & Brandon Gormley dropped outside of the top 10.
I'm confident the Isles will get a good forward at 15. Maybe one of the guys you're talking about.:

I think that's another reason why I would like to see the Flames pick Lindholm. I think I read somewhere that he wants to play another season in the SEL and I'm fine with that. The Flames will likely be close to another top-5 pick again next season, so why burn a year of an ELC? Let the kid play where he's comfortable and confident.
