It's a disgrace of a rule.

If James is touched when his knee hits, this would be a catch. There is no debate on that. The fact that he stretched the ball over the goal line only proves control. What happens after the TD is moot.

That was a touchdown.
It was close. I agree with the part about knee down, got ball over the line, no defender touched him. It's the catch rule messing things up.

The problem is the discrepancy in the rules regarding situation. A split second touch of an ass cheek in the Car-GB game is a TD. But a guy crosses the goalline with the ball after catching it and performing 180° turn, that's not a TD. He has to complete the process of the catch.

The rule is an absolute joke I say it weekly.

Last week I was fine with the Thielen no catch. At least his fully bobbled.

But this one and Hunt last night??

Ya fucking right

This is what's ruining the NFL. Not politics, not Trump. This.

That was a TD all the fucking way. They need to get the fucking nerdy lawyers out of the fucking rule book, and go back to a catch being a fucking catch.

If 50 out of 50 dudes in a bar think it's a fucking catch, then it is a fucking catch.

Total garbage.

At least they let them finish the game. When the Lions scored a winning TD that they overturned they just said the game was over.

Clearly short of the goal line, and it's basically giving the Lions a free timeout with no runoff. Get over it.

This sounds familiar. Wrong, but familiar.....

LOL @ the Pat's gomers on here...while his left hand came off the ball, his right hand didn't. and Goodell just got a yes extend vote from Kraft...

Honestly, when I saw the replay I knew they were going to call no catch, it is what it is...

Let's change the subject.
How'd Green Bay do today?????

They really need to figure out a way to use technology to determine whether it is a catch. Maybe put a chip in the ball that could somehow tell.
Of course two minutes after they put that into effect Belichick would begin looking for someone that could hack into it.....

The Steelers should be thankful they lucked out against Green Bay and Cincinnati. They haven't looked dominant the past 3 weeks.

Knee down. That is ground. What happened after that is the player lunging to the end zone, which he crossed, with control.

Knee down - was not touched by other player, continued to the ground in the endzone but did not maintain possession.

The rule sucks. Maybe since it was New England we should not follow the rule?????

Yeah... instead of calling some ex-official in New York, just call a bar in a neutral city and take a poll.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that as soon as the ball breaks the plane, the clock is supposed to stop and it's a TD. If he had caught the ball in the end zone like Calvin Johnson did, then he would have had to maintain possession going to the ground.
