Hmmm...who said 75% of this tonight already?

Eric Branch:

Trent Baalke’s favorite #49ers draft pick in the first two days? I’ve got this one pegged …

… Wisconsin ILB Chris Borland (5-11, 248), a third-round pick who ran a 4.83 40-yard dash at the combine. Borland was the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year last season and his 15 career forced fumbles ranks second in FBS history.

“It’s Wisconsin,” Baalke said. “I’m from Wisconsin. How can you not love him as a football player? Not tall enough. Not fast enough. Arms are too short. You hear all of that. We just love the makeup. We love the player. He’s everything you’re looking for from a DNA standpoint. He loves the game, he’s a smart football player, he’s an extremely instinctive football player. He’s overcome that lack of arm length. He’s overcome that lack of speed that’s been talked about. He’s just a baller.”

Cam Inman:

Baalke said Marcus Martin will begin 49ers career competing for starting center spot

Baalke said Carlos Hyde can be looked at as Gore's successor but was taken because best player available & "runs our style of offense."

EXACTLY 40.0% of the picks selected thus far were underclassmen (40 of 100).

Brandon Thomas - G - Tigers

49ers selected Clemson T/G Brandon Thomas with the No. 100 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Thomas (6-foot-3, 317) was one of our favorite offensive line prospects to watch on college tape. He frustrated Jadeveon Clowney in Clemson's November clash with South Carolina, playing with a mean streak and finishing to the whistle. Thomas has left tackle length (34 3/4-inch arms) and athleticism (5.09 forty, 29-inch vertical), and was outstanding protecting Tajh Boyd's blind side in college. He made 36 starts. Thomas might have been a late first-rounder if not for a torn ACL suffered during the pre-draft process. He'll spend his rookie year on the 49ers' reserve/NFI list and could replace LG Mike Iupati, who's entering the final year of his contract, in the starting lineup in 2015.

Williamson from ESpN thinks we drafted Borland to take over for Willis in a year as he turns 30 and is old. Man is he crazy

yep, players don't last forever. "take over" might not mean totally and also disagree with "a year", but we all get the drift.

Baalke is SUPPOSED to be planning ahead.

I think so far it's just the Broncos 4th rounder
