The Eagles have now been to three Super Bowls in the past 10 years, and won two of them. It feels kind of surreal. For most of my life, the idea of the Eagles being an elite franchise would have seemed unthinkable. But things really improved with Jeff Lurie buying the team.

His first good move was firing Rich Kotite after he wasted a talented roster in 1994. What's truly hilarious is the Jets saw this guy collapse with that squad and decided "Yeah, that's who we want coaching this team."

Lane Johnson waves off retirement rumors. I guess he wants to pave the lane for a third ring?

Still, don't be surprised to see Philly draft an offensive lineman high, as the story notes. I can see them taking his eventual replacement, like they did with Jason Kelce-Cam Jurgens.

But Philly will almost certainly go d line as well in the first few rounds, since they are set to lose Josh Sweat and Milton Williams.

This angle is why I’m a big proponent of a Becton resign. He can hold it down at guard until Lane retires and then bump him out to RT.

Ideally I want Becton Baun Milton and Sweat back. That’s not likely. I am prioritizing Becton and Baun.

I just don't think they can afford to pay everyone, and Becton strikes me as not worth paying. He is a lot like another borderline case, Jordan Davis, whose fifth-year option I think they will have to decide on.

Jimmy Kempski had a pretty good article about that in which he speculated that they would talk themselves into extending Davis one more year but likely not Jahan Dotson who would make too much and not be worth it.

My priority would be Zack Baun. I think realistically most everyone else is gone, and that's not the end of the world for a championship team. The offense will return 10 of 11 starters, so it is the defense where a little more effort will be needed. But we have so many good young defensive players under rookie contracts it's wild.

Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Moro Ojomo, Nakobe Dean, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Reed Blankenship, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Kelee Ringo--all signed.

I think you’re right. Read that Baun is estimated to get 3 years and $40 million. That may be all they have room for. As you point out on defense, each guy that can walk has a player on the roster that can fill the role. I’m out on Dotson too. I like what they’ve drafted. If anything, I’ll take midpriced vets as hedges on the youth they’ll have. That’s what Becton was. Unless it’s Myles Garrett, I’d like the Eagles to hold on to their picks to with the luxury of being able to be BPA. They have 3 fifth round picks they may be able to use in a deal to move up.

AJ Brown…my guy gets kind of weird. I’m watching that closely. I hope he doesn’t try and get himself out of his 2nd run first offense after Titans. That’s the only big piece that I can see changing in this core.

Eagles promote Kevin Patullo to offensive coordinator. He has never called plays before, and is primarily known as Sirianni's right-hand man.

None of which...sounds great to me? I hope he is up for the job, including the parts where he has to tell the coach to stick with the run and not go for two points every time.

I appreciate the Jones family letting everyone know what the Cowboys plan to do in the draft this year!

Trying to follow the Eagles' blueprint of overpaying for a QB, only to draft one the following year. Maybe they'll make a couple Super Bowls and win one in the next 5 years!

Sadly the Trey Lance era appears to be at an end. I wanted to see more of that.

On a related note, are the Cowboys the only NFC team that hasn't at least made the NFCCG this century?

I was worried about this when I saw he was on the block. This is a no-brainer for the Eagles if they don't have to give up a ton. They pick 32nd. What would it take? They're 1st this year obviously but how much more for a guy who will turn 30 this season and is about to get a monster deal? They can just let all of their free agents go to offset bringing him in because that still leaves them with a young core on defense to pair with what would be an insane DL. As far as Baun goes they don't historically pay LBers any way so I doubt they really care that much. Maybe this year's first and next years 2nd? Or make next years a 1st also if he plays a certain % of snaps or they make the NFC Championship game? Even next year's pick is going to be very late again.

Myles Garrett and Jalen Carter on the same DL is just not fair. Would love the Eagles to have room for Baun. I’m reading 3 years and 40 million. That would be the biggest contract I can recall the Eagles giving a LB. It’s out of character for them. At the same time, Nakobe Dean is hurt again and nobody knows what he will be when he comes back. They like Jeremiah Trotter Jr as well. However, they don’t have much to count on next year. Baun is still young and now Fangio gets some more leeway than D coordinators past. I’m 50/50 on whether Baun comes back. I think it’s more likely they resign Baun than they get a trade worked out for Garrett.

Baun was huge for the Eagles and perhaps Howie's best offseason move. I would think he is a priority. If the Eagles get Myles Garrett they are now the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Eagles released Slay a little bit ago.
He was a great Eagle. There is an off chance that if there is no market for him or if it’s much less than expected that he could come back on a 1 year but that’s not likely.

Eagles will have to make a decision on Isaiah Rogers. He’s a FA. The decision on Rogers may come down to their belief in Kelee Ringo. If they think Ringo is ready to start they can let Rogers walk. They have some solid practice squad and developmental CBs for depth.

The big thing I don’t want to see is DeJean moved outside. The slot cornerback has evolved into being the 12th starter. They found a great player there. I fear moving him outside you lose something at 2 positions.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. I'm not sold on Ringo even though he hasn't had too much opportunity. But I agree I don't want to put DeJean out there either. Rogers was actually above avg when he played so I'd be fine rolling with him but only if the price is right.
