$10M per over 5 years seems pretty fair. He is good, but not great. Good deal for Dallas and I assume for Collins

Keep the game going. When you aren’t very good and there’s a player who is now much better... well starting don’t mean much. It’s a token gesture. Ok run out there for a play or two Witten then sit your ass on the bench the rest the game.
We didn't bring Witten back to play a few snaps and sit on the bench.

Even better is that we have one of the best OL's in the NFL, and 4/5ths are locked up through 2024 while the open guard spot is manned by a 2nd year guy and we have a rookie as well.

Then explain to me what I was having "both ways" in your mind.

"So you agree he looks like he is going to be good and then you come back with we are blind homers. Pick a side bro"

Collins is not actually good, so I am not sure why Dallas fans like this signing.

Because he is good. PFF graded his work last year as the 6th best run blocker, and I heard they have him scoring 3rd best among OT's last year. Don't have a subscription, so can't confirm or post a screen shot.

And this is well below market value for an OT.

This puts him among the top 5 paid right tackles. Is he a top 5 right tackle?

According to PFF his stats say he is. Could stand to work on his pass blocking, but he's elite run blocking.

And if you are an above average starter in the NFL, you are going to be paid in the top 5 unless you have a case of the olds. Considering we invested zero draft picks in him and got to give him starting experience at a dirt cheap level, I have no issues with this. Not like we spent a #1 pick on him only to have him suspended twice, missing almost an entire season.

Stupid question. I can't believe how clueless people still are even with access to so much information when it comes to the timing of NFL contracts and the highest paid :L

Here is a question for you. Is Trent Brown the best OL in the NFL?

So I guess this is going to end just like when I asked you how Howie creating void years at the end of contracts helped him to circumvent the cap and made him a genius after you posted that 30 times here because some writer that didn't understand the cap alluded to it...with crickets chirping...

No, Trent Brown is not the best OL and was not worth being paid as such.

See? That isn't hard to admit.

Being paid top 5 doesn't mean you are top 5, it means you were the next due for a contract.

See? that isn't that hard to understand.

I hope Dallas cuts this guy. He is too cool for them.

Speed rushers give him some fits but good 98% of time. His run blocking is pretty solid too.

And then traded two picks for one.
So you turned a 1st and 4th in '18 into a 2nd and 4th in 18 plus a 2 in 19. Then turn around and give up a 2nd and 5th in 18 for a 2nd in 18.

I guess that is "trading back" but you don't gain much, and you gain nothing in the current year.

We got an extra 2nd this year which is a valuable pick. A 5th is usually not a valued pick.

Seems a tad high for an average player. He is now the 3rd highest paid tackle? But I don’t sweat the cap like some fans. I fully expect Dallas to keep everyone cause the cap is easy to manipulate. In addition Dallas can’t afford a hole on the line but 4 of the 5 starters make 10,000,000 or more each and Williams will be due not for 3 years which is good.
