Texas has 3 against Oakland and 3 against Seattle.

LAA has 4 against Toronto and 3 against Oakland.

if we go 2-1 against each, we would be 92-67 which would force LAA to go 6-1 for them to get to 89-70 just to make the 3 game series between Texas & LAA have any significance. and then LAA would have to win all 3 games just to force a 1 game playoff.

It's not looking good for LAA. They're on the road against Toronto, and haven't played particularly well against Oakland either.

Even if Texas went 3-3 in those two it would make it very tough on la.

agreed. they need to be within 2 going into the final 3 games to really have a chance and that would require them going 7-0 and hoping that we go 4-2 or worse

I think LAA has a better shot of catching Boston than they do the Rangers. That is what I think. We'll see very soon.

LA is really losing steam i think. The series with Toronto will wear them out I think.

they open with Williams against Romero and then Pineiro against Cecil. Game 3 is Haren against McGowen and then Game 4 Santana against Alvarez. i think at best they leave Toronto with a split.

True. However, when LAA catches BOS they will be in third behind TBR. The ALEast race is far from over.

TBR has 4 @ NYY, 3 vs TOR, and 3 vs NYY remaining

BOS has 4 vs BAL, 3 @ NYY, and 3 @ BAL remaining

NYY has 4 vs TBR, 3 vs BOS, and 3 @ TBR remaining

With BOS 4.5GB of NYY ... and TBR 2GB of BOS ... (and LAA 2GB of TBR in the WC race) a hot TBR team and strong play by BAL we have seen lately could totally shuffle the AL East final standings.

Attention that those interdivision games will attract will leave TEX and DET the opportunity to close on the race for #1 seed. And LAA could remain in the race and take advantage of TBR head to head with NYY to sneak in and nip NYY or TBR for the WC.

It's speculative to predict the final outcome but it is clear we are going to have ... a totally different AL playoff picture than what we see today.

TEX needs to focus on each of its games every night and drive forward to maintain its winning surge to carry it into October.

Chris Davis and company choking nicely for Baltimore. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Davis pops out to shallow right so Vlad can't score, next batter strikes out looking, and Nolan Reimold strikes out swinging.

6-5 Baltimore heading to the bottom of the 8th.
