How'd that most recent Stanford game work out for you? Our defense would have shut you down, it's better than Stanfords. 'Bama would have smoked you guys to if you could have taken care of business with your weak schedule.

Finishing ranked high is all fine and dandy but when it comes down to it NCs are the only thing that matter. BCS games aren't even going to be around in a couple years. You've only had one shot to win a NC in the history of your program...

Notre Dame's defense got fat stats by playing 1 team in the top 25 offenses and 2 more in the top 50. thats it.
Stanford played 4 top 25 offenses (one of them 2x) and 3 top 50.
Thats just on total D.
Stanford had a better turnover margin.
Stanford was #1 in the nation in Sacks and #2 in tackles for loss.
