Thaks Biz for posting this tribute. Some of the old time posters (Comeds/43) know that it is purely by luck (or the Grace of God) that I was not killed that day. My office was on the 96th floor of One WTC (the 1st building hit) and I was simply late going to work that day. I lost a lot of friends/co-workers that day and it always helps when I see others honoring their memory.

Thanks Again

i'm a believer that esp. in the tri state area this is going to be the hardest day of the year for years to come.

they made a note today during the reading of the victims names to point out how many young children there were today reading for the fallen parents and guardians, kids no more than 10,11 years old who've grown up without them.

its a reminder that hits home to me and points out how much this effect rippled from this area throughout the entire country. its sad. but one of the first things it got me thinking of was how many flags you saw EVERYWHERE for months to come
i can tell you that at least moving towards somerset, bergen, all the northern counties of new jersey that have outlets into the city, that still to this day you will see that most highway overpasses don the american flag

it's amazing hearing those stories...chilling really. some people were saved with the smallest things. it was their turn to drop of their kid at school, they stopped for a coffee, a pack or gum or something. amazing.

I am just glad that Devilish referred to me as an "old time" poster instead of just an old poster.
It was a long scary sad day that I will never forget. The first plane hit when I was on my way to work. Naturally at first they just thought it was an accident for a short time. Then right as I got out of my car the second hit.

I was working in a suburb of DC then and my radio did not get good reception in the building so I was trying to keep up to date via the web. Despite them patting themselves on the back weeks later about how well they worked, none of the news sites were loading for me. I was getting updates from posters on the Maine message board (or college board) and mainly a poster named TBFromTexas was my source of info. She was watching the news and quickly posting it.
Then my state and local government started talking about closing bridges and tunnels so I left and headed home.

Thank you for creating this thread.

Being unemployed at the time might have saved my life. I used to work in WTC neighbourhood for the most of my life in America. Been to WTC for business on many occasions. On 8/31/2001 went to an interview with Lehman Brothers (North Tower). They told me they'd get back to me in 2 weeks. Never happened. I still keep WTC visitor's pass from that day.

It took me 8 years to return to Downtown. I'm very proud to work in new WTC7.

Props to Eddie for his post too. Maybe just maybe we will see the day when we co exist without destroying the lives of innocent people and just become more tolerant of others beliefs without killing each other.

We can only hope.

i was only in 8th grade when it happened.
my fathers family is from buffalo and my mothers is from nyc
i remember my mom pulling all of us (me and my 3 siblings) out of school around 10 am and we had no idea why and she literally told us we were under attack.

being a young kid you don't know what to think about that, she told us everything that happened, my both my aunt and uncle saw the planes hit, one was on the verrazano bridge about 4 miles away and all the cars were stopped watching my aunt was a block away from tower 2 and was caught in the mess

my grandfather was the former brooklyn chief detective and he was one of the volunatary responders to help after. we lost a couple friends, no family but it hit home enough. it was amazing to see my 75 year old grandfather join the response effort however. that horrible day brought out the best in america

That day is seered deeply in my mind. We're fools as a nation if we don't take that lesson and learn from it.

Been very well sweetheart - thanks for asking. Gearing up for this game at present. How about yourself? :)

1:45 is one of the most awful things I have seen. I don't know why, but that clip really hit me.
