Nebraska at UCLA has upset written on it

I posted this in another thread in the Nebraska room:

This is the kind of game UCLA always wins. UCLA cannot win a decent Pac12 game or beat a mid-major OOC but for some reason they always tend to upset a elite Non-Conference team (see 2000 Alabama, 2000 Michigan, 2001 Ohio State, 2008 Tennessee, 2005 Oklahoma, 2009 Kansas State, 2010 Texas, 2006 USC - Yes a conference game but still fits the bill).

It is also a bad sign if you use to UCLA because almost all of these teams listed were in top ten but ended up having horrible seasons afterwords.

I've got 50 cents on Nebraska -5. The game will be a blowout so... Yeah it's easy money.

It's so funny to hear people use volbounds kind of reasoning. As if that's somehow relevant. Here's what I'm looking at:

The Rice defense that UCLA posted 600 plus yards on has been ranked in the 100's nationally for the last 4 seasons. Rice defense = WET PAPER BAG

The southern miss defense that ranked 7th in pass efficiency D played 2 starters from that very secondary last weekend.

UCLA was the most penalized team in the PAC-12 last weekend with 8 penalties for 107 yards.

Nebraska had zero holding and zero false start calls. 2 penalties for 30 yards. One for aggressive coverage and one for aggressive blocking.

UCLA is 1-6 since 1973 vs Nebraska with the last meeting in 1994. Bruins lost 49-21.

Nebraska has one of the deepest backfields in the country. Without Rex. Every single one of them could play/start anywhere in the country.

Bama was not an elite team in 2000, 3-8 with some horrible losses.

Oh and also:

- Redshirt freshman qb in his second game ever with a new head coach and staff.

vs.

-4th year junior in his 3rd full season as a starter coming off a career game. 2nd year in same offense coming off the highest yards per minute since Pelini took over, 5th year head coach with a 1-0 record in regular season games on the west coast (65-21 blowout in seattle)

Ameer Abdullah is more of a complete package than Burkhead.

Rex is not the factor people think he is.

The factors are Martinez having a solid game, and the defense containing the mobile QB Hundley.

Ameer abdullah has the ability to house it from anywhere on the field. Rex does not.


Same with Braylon Heard. Cross is a 230 pound Herschell Walker-esque manchild who will be a better back than all of them by the time he's a sophomore.

Go look up these backs offer lists if you like. They're not scrubs.

You guys started the season #3 and that loss to Alabama started to allow your team to unravel.

I know 2008 Tennessee went 5-7 but had Tennesssee played UCLA better and won, we would have likely been an 8-4/9-3 team that year. That game killed our confidence.

Still, I would be more nervous about this game if EVERYONE was calling for Nebraska to win. So thank you.

People will have a healthy respect for Ameer Abdullah and likely the rest of Nebraska's backs after this game. I guarantee you that.

A loss would be very embarrassing for Nebraska. Mora is in his 1st year at UCLA.

That being said both conferences suck. Utah lost to Utah St. tonight. The Pac 12 is a two team league now that Luck is in the NFL.

The Big 10 has a hard time beating MAC conference teams. So it could be an evenly matched game for all we know. The only two teams I believe are any good in either conference are USC & Oregon.
