Still would rather have that than the crap that is college football

i like the college football rules but i'd change the starting point to the 50, because the way college is set up now a team is already in FG range when OT starts.

I honestly can't believe you guys shot down the College OT system in favor of the NFL version. You are seriously content with a team driving roughly 40-50 yards, kicking a FG and grabbing a win with no chance for your team to go down the field and either score a TD or FG itself? That's completely fair...not.

They changed that rule. You need a TD on the 1st possession now to win the game. A FG and the other team gets a shot. Still tied after that or no score on 1st possession and it's sudden death. I think the other team should get a shot on offense regardless but this is better than it used to be. College OT makes a mockery of the game.

Just think your thoughts are pretty idiotic and nothing actually supports what you have said.

So the NFL isn't an offensive driven league and that doesn't explain why offensive players are favored above defensive player?

If anything, the college rules help the offense even more than they do in the NFL. For example, the clock stops after every first down, making the games go longer and allowing more time for the offense to run up crazy scores. The wider hashmarks in college also help create more space for the offense to operate.

Do you know how long the clock stops for after a first down in college?

College is an even more offensive league than the pros though. If you actually looked at the points per game average you would realize this. Throw in they actually have games with 70 point spreads. What is the fun in watching that?

Points per game doesn't mean it's more offensive league. As we've discussed here the main reason for the high points per game is talent disparity. The same can't be said for the NFL. take the college rules and put them in place in the NFL and you'll see scores lower drastically, and you know it.

Let's not forget the huge rule difference of ONLY NEEDED TO HAVE ONE FOOT in BOUNDS to make it a legal catch

Damn....good point. that does make it easy on the offense, but most agree it's still a talent disparity issue.

ALL OF THEM, throw out the entire NFL rule book and make the NCAA rule book the new NFL rule book.

How would that limit NFL offenses? Which college rules are the ones you are saying help out defenses so much?

Well considering when teams like USC, OK State, Oregon, etc play teams like Florida Christian Community Bible Community College. Heck even that team can score points!

It's better than a 7-7 game turning into a 61-59 one.

That's not how the NFL overtime works anymore. You can't win with a field goal on the first possession.

Do you know how long the clock stops for after a first down in college?

Long enough for the officials to move the sticks and set the ball. Clock starts when the ball is marked ready for play.
