NBA seriously considering big scheduling changes

Sources: NBA mulling reseeding, play-in tourney

Some of this has been talked about the last couple of years but it sounds like its seriously gaining steam this time.

Big highlights include:

78 game season (down from 82)
Reseeding the conference finals based on record
A playoff play in tournament between the 7th thru 10th place teams in each conference
An in season 30 team tournament similar to how soccer works where teams get extra cash, etc to win

Like in season tourney, dont like the reduced games. Laker ticket prices are to damn high already haha

Make the entire season the playoffs.

They should split the league into two different leagues.

A league would be the teams that have a chance

B league would be the Timberwolves

The winner of B league gets a small trophy and a party at Incredible Pizza

Soccer in season tourney is completely different for 2 reasons.

1) they include teams not in the league which the NBA cant do. So in soccer you get teams from lower leagues in the in season tourney.
2) they also include teams from other countries which nba isn't doing either

This is why im so against this BS.

Viewership is bad for the casual fan. Die hard fans like me watch nonstop like we always did.

I wouldn't say players/coaches don't care either.

NBA can't predict injuries. Something tells me if Zion and Steph were not hurt then viewership would be different. The Pelicans and Warriors been featured a lot on National TV

3 or 4 fewer regular season games not going to make a difference. With this tourney crap, it said teams can play a maximum of 83 games so yeah, i really isn't fewer games

The play in tournament is an interesting idea. Sometimes we have young teams that start figuring things out late in the season, or teams where their best player(s) get hurt and comes back, but they are too far out to make the playoffs.

This could give them a shot and at the least, get the young team some experience in games that carry a little more pressure.

Why not have a separate tournament when the season has finished among teams who didn't qualify for the playoffs? Winner gets a few extra ping pong balls in the lottery.
