2 Wildcard teams in the World Series

2 teams that wouldn't have made it back in the old days where only 1 WC team made the playoffs
True but the Rangers did lead the Division almost the entire season. In fact I think they lost it on the last day. That would have been rough.

Now you are going off the deep end. They would take a $100M dead goat for him if Garrett was included

I didn't say it was a viable trade, just that a very desirable added piece like Garrett wouldn't be enough for the Vikes to bite on Watson.

I may be in the minority but I'd prefer a Philly win.

The D Backs have overachieved these playoffs and it is great but I'm just not a big fan of a team this mediocre over 162 games being in the WS. They will have earned it based on their playoffs but that's just me.
I can understand this but what's the alternative? Go back to 4 playoff teams? Make it an 80 game season?

Yeah well that can be in any sport. Like a 8 seed beats a 1 seed in the NBA playoffs. It’s who gets hot. I don’t see any issue with it.

Baseball just makes it more likely for big spenders to dominate the sport. Refreshing to see the DBacks move on imo
and on the other side baseball also the sport where it's easier for the worst playoff teams to beat the better ones.....I like it.

2nd round should be 7 games. Doesn't necessarily change anything this year. As for the wildcard round, they could add more teams to eliminate byes (since they definitely won't cut playoff spots or shorten wildcard series to 1 game). Byes in baseball are rarely a good thing. Players are used to playing nearly every day.

Guessing only thing that stops this is how late it would make the potential end of the season.....without taking games away costing them money.

Other things is if you do this and the great team loses to the much lesser team because they have to be in WC round then it's we cannot have a great team out after losing only 2 games (or is that extended to 5 or 7?)

I figured he would be out. Let him get 100%. No point in rushing him back. If he is out multiple weeks I would like them to trade for Brissett but I doubt they do it
fuck me- we have to start PJ Walker again? And obviously no Chubb and now our solid backup running back is hurt? This is a disaster. Just trade the 4th rounder for Brissett. PLEASE.

I agree.

Also - baseball playoff come down to starting pitching so much. Dominate starting pitching is the best way to get through the playoffs.

Obviously Wheeler, Nola, Suarez is pretty good- though Nola and Suarez had their issues during the regular season- but its hardly dominant.

The number of ace starting pitchers is SOOOOOO down in MLB right now. It makes for a wide open playoffs.

Hunt and Ford both didn't practice today? Who is the guy likely to miss their next game?

how many true aces are in MLB right now?

I could make the argument that there is 1- Cole. Realistically- I would say there are somewhere between 5 and 10....but even those guys at the end of the top 10, I would not feel totally 100% confident getting the ball to start Game 1 of a playoff series- which to me is the test.

A guy like Castillo totally was a let down this postseason. I think he is probably a true ace but he blew it.

Is Strider a "true ace" ? ehhhhh....he had a 3.86 ERA this season. I would say he is not there yet.

Is Corbin Burnes a "true ace"? he is pretty close- but again- totally shit the bed in the post season.

DeGrom, Sherzer, Verlander are all getting old and have injury issues.

Wheeler? Yah I would put him in that group.

Gausman- really really great the last 3 years in the regular season- but last 2 post season starts were huge disappointments. Valdez pretty damn good but terrible post season. Maybe Logan Webb gets there. I would say Bieber but his health was an issue this year- last year he was great in the postseason. Sonny Gray is not a true ace- talented but when he takes the mound Game 1 its not like you are thinking- this game is ours. McClanahan might be on the route if he can get healthy.

who would be on your guys list of true aces in MLB right now? Where is Curt Schilling? Cliff Lee?

Got the great garlic at subway for lunch.

Chicken, bacon, lettuce, spinach, pickles, olives with that garlic aioli sauce on wheat.

So good.
