Cleveland has to catch lightning in a bottle to win it all. they have come close several times but their best runs were back when the Financials were closer

It's pretty easy to see in my own team. Detroit went from one of the worst teams in baseball history in 03 to the world series in 06. Smart trades and a committed owner. So we are year 7 in the rebuild in Detroit because his son is a cheap fuck.

In no other sport does location and owner matter more. As you pointed out Billy Beane won fuck all in the playoffs despite completely changing how people saw analyzing talent
No doubt about this......I love our FO (though this was not their best season in signings and who they let go) but would be great if the owner wanted to win like the other 2 in town. Maybe when Blitzer takes control though I don't know much about him.

Actually in no other sport does luck matter more (except hockey). The baseball playoffs are almost perfectly random. Your regular season record has almost zero correlation to who wins it. Beane had a lot of small sample size bad luck
Right...and it's a sport where the absolute worst team can sweep the best one in a 3 game series so really is true make the playoffs and there's at least a shot.

Or should I let the "experts" pick for me? lol @thunderc

Holy shit

What is your scoring system? Do you get 4 or 6 pts per passing TD? 6 pts would push more favor towards Stroud IMO. Both teams on the road, especially tough for Fields on a Thursday. Fields' performance last week is clouding things IMO (along with preseason rankings), so it depends on whether you view that performance against the worst defense in the league thus far as a fluke or Fields re-emerging to relevance. Stroud has been more consistently good without playing the Broncos IMO.

sorry just saw....if no one has answered this it sounds like Alomar will be retained but he does not want to be the manager.

In general I don't think managers in baseball mean that much......but I do think Tito was different as he was willing to think outside the box. also likely helped guys wanted to play for him and likely came here or stayed because of him.

Glad Alomar will be retained. Hope they get a good replacement for Tito.

I mean, the Tribe has gone a lot further than any of Beane's teams. so there's that?

But not like I'm not aware the Tribe is still owned by a guy without a will to win.
hmmmm...I know the Dolans arent perfect but they stay out o fbaseball affairs and put together a great team to manage the club.

Over the last 12 years the Astros and Yanks are the only AL teams to have better records in the AL. That is pretty impressive out of a market Cleveland's size.

They had the youngest team inbaseball again this year- and with guys like Cantillo, Espino, Valera, Manzardo, DeLAtuer still coming up- I am not sure if that is going to change anytime soon.

Honestly- depth wise- this has the chance to be a very good team- but it is going to take a little time unless the pitching gets healthy and they can bring in a RF'er.

This is all the FO in spite of the Dolans.

Will say even they screwed the pooch this season with their FA signings and letting Jones and Benson go (which are the exact type of player we go into the offseason needing).

This is where you go for those acuna extensions
how long has it been since we could say that the Orioles are without a doubt hte best positioned team in the AL East for the long term? Been a long while.

There collection of young position players honestly reminds me of the Indians in the mid 90's when they had Belle, Baerga, Lofton, Thome, Manny, Alomar Jr. etc.

Damnit, now I am thinking hard. It will definitely make TNF more interesting
They are both ranked from like 9-12 this week all the normal places I look. I do have a rule I try to follow though. I like Monday night games better than Thursday night games. I’m not a big fan of Thirsday games unless it’s a no brainer. I only have one qb on my team with fields and the other options aren’t great.

It's 6. Fields got me close to 36 last week

Well your choice is easier. I actually picked up Stroud this week though. So far TNF games seem to be pretty high scoring though

McCord is a 5 star and think they have another coming next season.
Air Noland. Borderline 5 star, I think he was a 4 star. Track guy so he can run but he didn't do much of it last year

There was a fun bet on the Dan Patrick Show. One of the Danettes is a Broncos fan (Fritzy) and another is a Bears fan (Paul). The bet was the loser doesn't get to participate in "meat Friday" until their team wins a game. If the Bears win tonight, Paul would have lost the bet, but not miss a meat Friday.

It would kill Paul to miss a meat Friday. He's almost a @DJ level foodie. lol

Yes thank you....could not remember his name. IF McCord does not keep getting better possible they'd move on but not close to that yet.

You've been pimping this team for years. Wake us when they do some damage in the playoffs. 2016 was a long time ago, heck the Giants were even good then.

Kudos for thinking you can flex on a Phillies fan these days though.

It was years ago. He was coming at Alec Bohm who was one of the Phillies most consistent players this year and their best hitter with RISP. It led to a productive 20 HR and 97 RBI season. I served him his plate of crow on a player he trashed and he refuses to eat hit. His biggest criticism of Bohm is that he was drafted 3rd overall and because he never developed as a HR hitter and instead hits to the gaps and goes the other way with the pitch to move runners and plate guys he is apparently a mediocre player. Meanwhile…Bohm’s 20 HRs would have finished number 2 on his fugaze team with a pop gun arsenal. He praises the Guardians young kids like they’re going to be the ‘27 Yankees in the next few years. Meanwhile, the guy with “no power” would be at the top end of his team’s HR list. Typical Wiggy. Trash somebody else’s player. Praise his own team’s players like they’ll be in Cooperstown someday. When you’re wrong, never take ownership of it. Rinse. Repeat.

We're all homers to a degree, that's literally what fandom is. He's just laughable about it.

I like the Phillies and a lot of their players. I really like Harper and Turner and Wheeler. I am rooting for them against the Braves.

I just said that Bohm, a former #3 overall pick, has sucked and been a huge dissapointment. 4 years in he has a combined WAR of about 1 (or less) depending on where you look. Not 1 WAR per season- 1 WAR COMBINED.

he cant hit for average (though he did for his first 2-3 months of his career and then just fell off a cliff), he has mediocre to below average power, he cant run at all, and he definitely cant defend. He does nothing well on the baseball field.
