Bakers statement seemed to leave the door open a crack. Sounds like if the Browns called and offered a mea culpa, he would at least listen. Despite the acrimony, from a football/winning standpoint, he would be in a better spot than with Carolina or Seattle.
I don't think it left the door open at all. The first word that came out of his mouth when asked if he would return was, "No" lol. Baker is the last guy in the world who is going to fill in for the guy that a team picked over him. It's just who he is, he has a chip. It's not going to happen.

True, but his next sentence was "there would have to be some reaching out". So basically, what it says to me is, he's not going to call them and ask and he likely doesn't think the Browns will reach out to him. But if they did, he'd at least listen.

I think he's also saying that if they do reach out, there's still no guarantee he'd play for them. It would depend on what they said/were willing to do for him.

That chip would likely also be why he might want to go in there, ball out and show them the mistake they made. what's he gonna do if told to show up...quit?

I agree. with someone like Hue and Dorsey in charge I don't think they could convince him as easily. Stefanski and Berry seem like they could be more measured and explain the benefits better....as could his agent.

Chris Rose of NFL Network was just on 92.3 (local station) saying what I have about Browns and Baker

*IF Watson is suspended a season and they believe Brissett is the clear better QB they absolutely should and likely will consider playing Baker
*Said wont be hard to get this done as the hard part is done. He was saying there is no contract to agree to by both parties as he's signed
*Said under those circumstances it would be better for both parties
*Said wont be hard for FO to convince Baker this is best for him......maybe just promise not to franchise him after the season would be all it would take
*Added players just want to win and, again, IF Baker is the clear better player they'd want him to play
*Also said the locker room dynamic is one that no one really knows as they have not been in the locker but again...see the last comment.

Yeah. Makes too much sense.

And while I don’t think Baker is all that good, he is most definitely better than Brissett.

Brissett can help you steal a couple games in spot starts. Baker has proven he can lead a good supporting cast to the playoffs.

Baker would be the best option.

I could see not dealing with Baker if it's only 4-6 games (or even up to 8). But 12 or a season? For sure an entire season?

Cannot be hard to explain to Baker he might be better off as a starter in a system with players he knows (and what's considered a good team) than going to a potentially bad team, maybe somewhere he's the backup or, hell, just sitting. His agent should explain if he wont listen to the Browns.
