A year seems to be the most often quoted suspension length.

I'd guess a year, which will be reduced on appeal. How much it's reduced will likely depend on how hard the NFLPA is willing to fight for him.

The league should go the cruel route and tell Watson his suspension will only be the first four weeks of the season if he gets neutered. :heh:

I wanna know more about the meme I posted. 60 games would be wild.

I still think 8-12 games and reduced to 6 but a year wont surprise me.

Honestly, I think a lot comes down to how much they believed Watson when he spoke to them......and did he show any type of remorse.
He clearly didn't because of his press conference when he was introduced in Cleveland.

He said he didn't do anything wrong. When clearly he did something wrong.

Holy moly that's disgusting. Bummer you had to go through something like that.
Well, at least I knew the probability of this happening.

It's in the job description.

Doubt it's the same for a licensed masseuse.

Well, at least in this Country.

I've spent time in the Philippines, Singapore and Korea.

Let's just say things are more ......flexible * see legal * in some pockets of the world.

I guess to be fair, they may have thought prosecution was a dead end.

More often I'm hearing from those on the other side saying if he's innocent no way he'd settle. That seems like a crock, too. First, it depends how much. In addition, with someone with his amount of money maybe he'd rather just have it go away (which it will) and not spend the next 2-3 years in court.
Yeah.

I have never had multi- generational wealth.

So, I'd like to say I would never pay to make a lie go away.

But, that's easy to say when I'm not at risk of losing a $230 mil dollar contract.

He did later say he'd have changed some things so maybe outside the public eye with the NFL he said the same?

But that ignores the first part and maybe they just believed his side of the events.

I'm very well traveled outside of the Good Old U-S of A. I've been to Canada, Mexico & ann arbor <-- (what a terrible place!).

Agree, but think most of society in an undesirable situation does not stay and watch AND get close enough to be squirted.
Ok but I don’t know if turning things on the victim and assigning a level of blame upon them during a sexual assault is a winning move but you do you.

He's getting the book thrown at him.

In a just world, he and Kraft would get the same punishment.

In this case it's zero games, even if I believe they belong in jail.

But, I can't see that happening.

I suspect they give him a full year and it gets adjusted to 6-9 games.

There is too much publicity for him to walk, especially with the 4 cases still pending.

The NFL will CYA.

I am not the assailant so having a reasonable opinion is OK. Just curious if there is any story that could have been told where you may have said, "now wait a minute....."?

Do you think most in this situation would stay and watch AND remain close enough to be squirted?
A) yes
B) no

I kind of agree with you. Not sure how it gets there but my guess was it ends up around 6 games.

Agree...but in your world is it always guilty for the player when it comes to punishment or does it matter how much you like or hate that player or the team he plays for?
You mean your world right? I’m sorry bro but this You Hate the Browns line of thinking really doesn’t work. The Browns aren’t even worth hating from my end. They aren’t in the Eagles division and it’s not like they’re the Pats and you have jealousy driven hate for the success. The Browns have been largely irrelevant since Marty Schottenheimer days. The Browns just aren’t worth hating. But because he’s a Brown you’ve taken up his mantle. I get it. That’s what fans do but don’t accuse me of having an agenda. If I have an agenda you can pin on me it’s as the father of a 20 year old girl who is scared to death something awful will happen to her one night at college and the rules of the game leaving her no recourse to get recompense. I have zero fucks to give when it comes to the Browns. Their ceiling in my lifetime has been “also ran”. That’s not worth any level of sports hate. The role the Browns play in the eyes of every NFL fan is one of propped up self esteem. Nearly every fan of every franchise in the NFL when shit gets bad for them can say to themselves… at least we aren’t the fucking Browns.

Wow do you just make it up as it suits you. an admission of guilt? I mean, it's possible the NFL told him to settle and he'll get a lesser suspension.
The NFL’s code of conduct exists for one reason as one reason only…to protect the brand. That makes the end all be all the court of public opinion. And in the court of public opinion, a settlement is seen by many as an admission of guilt. That’s why you will often see the NFL take action without there being a conviction when players transgress.

People freeze.

People question themselves on weather or not they are overreacting in a situation, which causes them to UNDER REACT, especially when a famous, important, affluent individual is involved.

Can't say how you would react to a situation you've never been in.

That goes for both sides.

I'd like to say I'd never settle out of court and I believe this to be true.

Hope I never have to find out, either way.
