Not that vast with number 1 overall. I think it works out more to be like 50/50 to even 60/40 in terms of him being a legit NFL starter that sticks around for years. Even a guy like Vinny Testeverde hung around awhile and even had some All Pro teams.
Ok, 30 then minimum. No question Manning was a generational talent.

I would rather have a brand new Bentley Botega and 7k left over for gas lol

Those bottles can be bought for half the price at liquor stores too

I get that (disappointment because he was a 1) but at the same time, a number of those number one guys fail at a level worse than Mayfield. Seems like for every Peyton Manning you have your Jameis Winstons
I wouldn't even say Winston (as he's decent)....I'd say for every Manning there's an Akili smith (unless you wanted #1 picks only).

edit - just saw you did mean only #1 guys. I'd say of that list only a few (or handful) complete busts. More like baker who you could call a disappointment for a #1 pick.

It’s not some stringent discussion. But I was shocked when I pulled up the list of number one overall QBs selected. The list is pretty damn solid. Even guys like Bartkowski and Testeverde had decent careers and were productive starters despite not being elite. There are few Tim Couchs and JaMarcus Russell’s. I’d say 85% are at least legit NFL starters.

He is better than several teams have. But those teams have bottom of the barrel starters. Upgrading too and paying Mayfield is not an attractive option to anybody.

Definitely not a top 15-16 QB. If he were, teams would be trading for him.

I think there is a bit of knowing that the Browns are in a tough place regarding Baker, waiting for the potential release and avoiding that 5th year contract value.

Baker is a known entity that has put up solid numbers when healthy. There is no mystery on that front. An all-clear from his doctors regarding his recovery from surgery would go a long way as well.

Definitely seems likely if the QB goes #1 he will succeed. Wouldn't put Couch even close to Russell as he was OK (especially considering his situation) until he broke down physically. Could kind of say the same for Carr, though he never had any success (like Couch did)...but he sure was beat up.

No doubt a different animal when you get beyond #1 (even as early as 2-5).

It's funny seeing wine and liquor prices in restaurants and bars. Wine prices per glass are typically more than the bottle cost, even at single bottle prices from a store. From a distributor the price is far cheaper. Nothing better for profits than a captive audience/customer.

That last comment is not touched on much but is very true. Haven't heard much at all about him as far as his health.

Think Browns' situation is overblown some. Not ideal, but not that tough a spot. They have the cap room to hold onto him as an insurance policy if nothing else.

Even Couch was on his way to being at minimum a decent starter, but health issues kept him from that.
