He is better than several teams have. But those teams have bottom of the barrel starters. Upgrading too and paying Mayfield is not an attractive option to anybody.

Definitely not a top 15-16 QB. If he were, teams would be trading for him.
Guessing he's not looked at as top 15-16 now by most teams...and doesn't help he's due $19 mil AND coming off major surgery. Most of the offseason only 6-7 teams could afford his contract. Now it's a few....and Browns are one of them.

Have to agree if I'm Seattle I'd rather just tank than add Baker who might help them win a few extra games. Given the choice I'd rather win 2-3 games than 5-6.

Yeah, speaking as a Seahawks fan, given their current roster, I prefer tanking and trying to get one of the QB's coming out next year and I actually like Baker.

If I felt like Seattle had a roster just needed a QB, I would be very pro Baker to the Seahawks...but then, if they had that kind of roster, Russell Wilson probably wouldn't be in Denver. lol

Still, he ain't all that...
Not worthy of going #1 at this point...that's for sure. But too early to call him a bust, I think.

In addition, if someone like Russell, Akili Smith, shuler, etc. are busts (and they are) Baker does not fall in that category.

Speaking as someone whose team for so long refused to completely tank I'd definitely prefer the full tank version.

Didn't say or imply bust. Saying he's in the upper half of QB's in the league was a stretch, that's all...

Pre-game for "The Match" is on.

They're talking about it being in Vegas...Charles Barkley says "I built a lot of this city." lol

Maybe I misread, but my reply was to you saying he ain't all that when dj mentioned he was involved in many discussions claiming he's not a bust (which to this point I think it's too early to call him). Hard to call him upper half right now....for sure without seeing him play again post injury.

Bust is a term that should be saved for the Ryan Leaf’s of the world. Mayfield isn’t a bust. He is likely somewhere between 15-20 in a legitimate ranking of QBs with the range accounting for a person’s individual thoughts on him. Even someone like me who doesn’t believe in Mayfield must grant he’s a legitimate NFL starter. Whether or not he stays at that level will depend on his next stop and how he performs. My own guess is that in about 3 years he is carrying a clipboard and wearing a ball cap as a back up going forward from that point.

while I disagree with that last point it's certainly valid. Agree about your assessment of calling him a bust. A disappointment since he was taken #1? Right now sure looks to be the case.

I get that (disappointment because he was a 1) but at the same time, a number of those number one guys fail at a level worse than Mayfield. Seems like for every Peyton Manning you have your Jameis Winstons

For every Manning you have 100 Winston’s
Not that vast with number 1 overall. I think it works out more to be like 50/50 to even 60/40 in terms of him being a legit NFL starter that sticks around for years. Even a guy like Vinny Testeverde hung around awhile and even had some All Pro teams.
