Congrats on the Rangers getting to the ECF. I've only been following hockey since Vegas gotta team. So still don't fully understand the game. But I'm trying to figure it out.
Lol it definitely takes a minute, but it's a fun game to watch...

It's actually less rough than it was back in the day...

I follow the Kings a little bit. Mostly when they are in the playoffs. I had a friend who is into hockey explain some of the basic rules. I have a hard time following the damn puck though. lol

I've been to two hockey games in my life. Vegas Wranglers minor league. Both times I got so drunk it didn't help me understand the game. But I have a helluva fun time.

My home state didn't even get a hockey team until 20-something years ago. So I didn't watch it or play it growing up. The more I watch hockey the more I like it.

Exactly. The Long Beach Ice Dogs used to be the minor league outfit out here. Cheaper, and a blast to attend. The first Kings game I went to it seems there were more fights than there were goals, and that'd be a lot since the game ended in a 5-5 tie...

If you get a chance, go to a game. The same friend took me to a game...totally different experience. Especially if you sit close to the glass.

Most or all sports are always better live. Except curling. That's shit's boring no matter what.

I do wanna attend a game. I wanted to get the hell outta CO. this summer. But with the absurd gas prices no way I'm moving this year. Gonna have to wait until next summer.

Which means next season I'll finally go to my first NHL game when Vegas comes to Colorado.

It also completely ignores the construct as to why Chicago is how it is. Gun laws are irrelevant to that issue. Memphis is no different but has (without looking to verify) very pro gun laws on the books yet has a similar crime situation. And again the crime there has nothing to do with gun laws

When we're talking about gang violence, we're not talking about legal guns. Plain and simple.

How many of them are former players?

The reason I ask is that it seems like former NBA players, especially role players, choose to go into coaching. Moreso than former NFL players, who seem to choose to go into broadcasting.

Seems like you want to claim the issue in the NFL is race when there seems to be evidence that it may be more about choices being made by former players.

Maybe it's as simple as broadcasting pays better than being an NFL assistant coach, pays at least as well as a head coach, has a lot less pressure and a better work/home balance? Considering all of that...not sure why anyone would want to be a coach. lol

Not saying that it isn't a race issue, but rather that maybe we should look at other potential reasons before defaulting to race.

It would be interesting to do a study to see if it is a difference in choices made, opportunities available or some combination of factors.

Some possible factors:

Coaching in the NBA is more direct than coaching in the NFL IMO. The differences in training different positions aren't as extreme.

There is a lot of turnover in role players in the NFL, whereas role players can bounce around the NBA longer IMO and gain that knowledge needed for coaching.

NBA players aren't typically as beat up by the sport as NFL players. Coaching is a grind with a lot of time standing on the sidelines and lingering injuries like that could really keep players from pursuing those long hours.

Don't get me wrong, race is still an issue (more so in the NFL IMO). The types of ownership between the two leagues are pretty different, which may leave the NBA more progressive in those matters. Old white money tends to own the NFL franchises, but you've got owners in the NBA that are computer magnates, start-up entrepreneurs, etc.

If he keeps partying like that after he retires.....he'll be bankrupt by the time he's 50 or so.

So stupid. After the first bottle/case, just keep going cheaper. Nobody is going to notice or care lol.
