I would go so far as to say surely not out of a job.

Why the whole “blackballed” theory makes no sense.

He didn’t get blackballed. His play just wasn’t good enough for any team to put up with the controversy. And it is really easy to see how all 32 teams would make that same calculation.
Not to mention it's also likely he wanted a lot more money than teams were willing to pay him.

What was the reason that Kaepernick was a distraction, if not for kneeling during the anthem? It was clearly about gingoism.

He wasn't 35 when this crap started; he was 29. We're talking about a guy that made no noise at the time, just knelt during the anthem. Out of the league. In a QB starved league, he was dropped out of the league completely.

If you're referring to Baker, that's not the only reason he's out. He also played poorly last year holding the team back, is due a lot of money soon, and the team decided to go with a perennial pro-bowl level QB (some would argue foolhardily, given Watson's off the field issues). Kaep's stats in his last season were better than Baker's last year.

Kaep: 12 games, 59.2%, 2241 yds, 6.8 avg, 16 TD, 4 INT, 90.7 rating, 49.2 QBR, 468 rushing, 2 rushing TDs
Baker: 14 games, 60.5%, 3010 yds, 7.2 avg, 17 TD, 13 INT, 83.1 rating, 35.1 QBR, 134 rushing, 1 rushing TD
Kaep also did not play so great and if memory serves turned down a boat load to be a FA...so thinking he wanted a lot of money and was not worth it.

Do you think if LJ or watson took a knee for the anthem they'd be out of a job long?

I dont care what his guy said. Also it isn't even a lock they go with QB.
I can agree with that last part. Could have someone else in mind. I'd say at least see how it plays out before taking victory laps (not saying you).

1. You said I’m not a GM so I tagged the guy who has an in with a player personnel dude. Now you say that doesn’t matter.
2. If it’s not QB this is even dumber. The only position you justify allocating 5 pieces of draft capital to is a QB
don't think his guy is a player personnel dude, but could be wrong about that.

Would have to be a damn special player to be worth a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick.

I'm just happy they got 2 picks. Should seal the deal that they are going WR which was my biggest concern

Tell the whole story. They’re selling out and devoting monster future draft capital to draft a QB in what many are calling the worst draft for QBs in quite some time. Just tell the whole story on why people are laughing.
I mean, this might be true, but things are not always as they seem.

Look at a few recent drafts classes for QBs. 2017 class wasn't thought to be anything special. Trubisky was thought by most to be the best and Mahomes an afterthought. Very mixed on Watson. 2018 class was supposed to be exceptional and 2 look like busts already (Darnold and Rosen) and Baker might get added to that. LJ went after 4 of them and 2 went before Allen.

I don't think much of this class but that's only based off what I've heard. Not like I've studied any of these guys closely. and it's also possible they have their eye on a non-QB.

And i said i dont care. The guys his his man said his trash are both projected top 10 picks now....they were not projected top 15 a month ago.

You can't tell me every gm/scout in the nfl is horrible and can't spot talent and his guy is the only person with an eye for talent. Just not realistic

I can tell you that my guy has data only a few teams are privy too. And my guy is not a scout. Probably knows less about football than anybody here.

But his data is better at identifying QB busts than any scout out there.

More variables go into success stories, so that isn’t 100%. But so far that data has pretty been spot on there too.

Where it isn’t as reliable is the guys in between really good and really bad.

Have to believe that Dennis Allen, given that he didn't have the greatest run with the Raiders, is feeling the need to catch fire early by getting the next QB in place now, rather than have a 1st wasted season under Winston. But I agree with others on this thread, you don't trade that draft capital unless it's a QB. And if it's not to get a QB, then holy hell, that's bad.

Winston was excellent for No before getting hurt

The question now is, was that all Payton

The Eagles have always been good at this stuff under Howie Roseman…the issue though is choosing the right talent with the picks.

Stats say there’s not an innate talent

The teams with the most success tend to just have the most picks

Top QBs in recent draft always go top 10. Maybe even top 5. 2019 was projected as a weak class and guys went 1, 6 and 15

Just how the draft works. Especially today.
