the defensive player is not there long enough for the offensive player to have an option. Only because the last guy is outside the restricted area is why they get the call. To me they are blocking fouls!

That isn’t how it is called today though.

As long as the defender is established and takes the contact more or less in the chest, they are getting the call.

Offensive players got too good at Euro stepping around a set defender, so now defenders are allowed a little more leeway on sliding let into position as long as they get set before contact.
