Holy shit. Jags actually made a competent hire. At least from the outside it looks good. We'll see how he does in Jacksonville.
The suit was rushed and they don’t have their ducks in a row. It seems as if the accusation against the Giants about the sham interview can be easily debunked as they hadn’t hired the Bills OC yet. He was still considering Miami at the time of the BB text. I think the move was designed to rally all of the black coaches that believe they had grounds and the hope was that the sheer numbers of personal anecdotes could be stacked to paint a picture of a systemic problem in the NFL ranks. That could still happen if Flores and his lawyers can convince these guys to stand together. If they get lots of participation, you can argue that minimizes the possibility they would be damaging their career. If it’s only 6 or 7 guys, it will be easy for the NFL to pay them a nominal settlement to go away and their careers are over. It’s a risky play and it doesn’t look like it’s been planned well. I personally think it’s a shame that they’ve rushed this. I think the realities can’t be ignored and that change has to happen. I think this has a strong potential of going the other way and damaging the overall argument as more and more of Flores case is revealed to be flimsy and lacking.Even as a class action suit, they still have to be able to prove that the reason they weren't hired was because of their race. That's the part that will be difficult, imo. It's one thing to say "I didn't get hired because of my race", it's a whole other thing to prove it. There would likely have to be e-mail and/or video or audio taped evidence of someone actually saying it.
Remember Donald Sterling? Apparently, everyone knew the guy was a racist, but they couldn't get rid of him until there was actual audio of it.
I’ll love this man forever because of LII. Philly did him dirty. This was a risky decision because that franchise and ownership is Mickey Mouse. That being said I’m rooting for his success.

This is spot on. Flores' approach isn't strategic at all. The coaching industry is primarily based on relationships. Flores seems like he felt he was entitled to another HC gig. It's not crazy that the Giants hired Daboll. He would've been my first pick for the Phins gig when we fired Flores, and it's not some shocker that they went with Daboll. Daboll did wonders with Josh Allen's growth in Buffalo, and the Giants likely saw that and want to see if Daniel Jones is their guy. We've seen how Flores has mishandled the QB situation in Miami. That's what I thought when it first was announced. It was like he found out it was a faux interview, lost his temper and decided to scorch the earth. Now, it seems like he's painted himself into a corner and unless he can prove his accusations against Ross, this isn't likely to end the way he wants it to.

But like you said, I don't think this will end the way Flores initially saw. I don't see many coaches jumping on his bandwagon, because again, once you file a class action lawsuit, you still have to prove there was wrongdoing. In the end, most of these coaches will move on, and for Flores, he had allies in Bellichick and Ross and has burned those bridges. I'd be floored if he ever works in the NFL again. He's basically Kaepernick now - no one in the league's going to touch him.
Yeah, Harbaugh's a guy who's got the cache and resume to be able to demand that. I'd take him on the Dolphins in a quick second. But yeah, some teams aren't ready to hand over the keys to the kingdom. The bold is the biggest part of this, imo. A guy can be a great coach, but not be a good fit in an organization and not get the job because of that.
I think most folks thought Harbaugh was going to get any NFL job he wanted, but he's back at Michigan, reportedly because the Vikings want to do things collaboratively and Harbaugh is more "my way or the highway". I heard this morning that something like 1/3 of NFL teams wouldn't even be interested in interviewing for that reason...and this is a guy who had done nothing but win everywhere he's gone. He got Stanford on the national radar ffs.

Harbaugh over McDumbass? Are you even serious right fucking now?lol
Yeah, I'm pretty sure @DJ would have gone to Michigan, picked him up and carried him to the Raiders headquarters for them to hire him and that's even after the interim doing a great job.

It's a no brainer since McDaniels was beyond horrible in Denver.
Some guys just aren't very good head coaches.I would hope he may have learned a thing or 2 since then.
Let's put it this way.....if the Seahags had fired or Carroll decided to retire......would you have wanted McDaniels as the next HC?I would hope he may have learned a thing or 2 since then.
not only that- but the un-informed poster that posted this- does not know how close the Haslems are MAnning already are- and if he wanted in on the ownership group- he would be welcomed. No thanks. I'm fine with Haslam. No lock Manning would be any good as an owner (different sport, but MJ nothing special). Now if it turns out he needs to ever get rid of the FO/coach and hire another on his own? That's a concern.
belicheck had a lot to learn and wasnt very good as a first time head coach.Let's put it this way.....if the Seahags had fired or Carroll decided to retire......would you have wanted McDaniels as the next HC?
Carroll had a winning record in New England and made the playoffs twice in 3 years there. Never had a losing record.belicheck had a lot to learn and wasnt very good as a first time head coach.
a lot of guys need that experience first.
I think McDaniel's could be good. I think its sometimes an advantage to have some experience as a head coach, some time to reflect on it, and then get back into it later on.
Pete Carroll- right? Was he a head coach in the NFL before going to USC? I think he was- unless I am mistaken.
Tons of fired coaches find success at a next stop.
