This is a bad look for OBJ. If the Browns can't find a team dumb enough to trade for him then sit his sorry ass. His daddy is now trying to defend him. :pound:

Yep and it's why I thought the Bears sitting Fields for a year would be the best thing for the kid. Franchises can ruin QB's that have potential...not to mention coaches in general for any position but you have to be very careful with the decisions you make regarding a young QB, one slip up and it changes everything.

Tim Couch agrees that starting a rookie QB too early with mess his career up.

You're leaning on a marginal performance that was bolstered by a defense that prepared for Winston and not Simien. Future game plans would entail man employed across the board with 8 in the box to take away Kamara run/pass.

Honestly I am more banking on what I saw from Hill last season.

Teams were already playing to take away away Kamara because the Saints have very little in the way of downfield threats.

I will say, a lot of QBs are short-sighted as well when it comes to this. When that second contract comes, QBs try to maximize their earnings. Look at Tom Brady (yes, being married to Gisselle is pretty nice), but he left money on the table to put quality pieces around him. Wasn't just to win Super Bowls, but he had a solid OL and rarely got hit. You're seeing it early on with Mahomes, his play is starting to slip and that's evident as he's working with 2 new tackles on his OL. Just wait until his second contract kicks in and they have to start letting quality pieces go.

Agree.

One of the things that's started to be said about winning a Super Bowl is that if you have a good young QB, you need to maximize the talent around him and go for your Super Bowl run before you have to pay him...because when you do, you're going to lose a lot of players.

The other option is having a QB that you don't have to pay as much (but is still solid) and build up the talent around him. But even then, it's still difficult because the way the game is played now, there will be key moments where a QB has to make a play and that solid QB may not be able to make them, or at least not enough of them.

After making it to 2 Super Bowls, the Seahawks haven't been even as far as the NFC Championship game since they had to pay Russell Wilson.

Well for starters, how about you catch the ball when it is thrown to you and not gator arm it. Secondly, get open and when you do, don't get hurt.

Hopefully Landry steps up and redeems himself in the Battle of Ohio part I on Sunday.
Yep...bad as things look win Sunday and all will be forgiven. Wont be easy but not impossible like some might think. I mean, Cinci has lost to the Bears and Jets.

Not sure I agree with the "ruining QB" idea. If a QB is ruined because he has a rough rookie season he likely wasn't going to make it anyway.

If you mean, physically ruined (like Couch) that's another story.

I guess, but a 2nd and a 3rd seems like what you'd give up for 2018 Von Miller. I get going for it and cannot complain much as a fan but thinking they have very few high picks (or many at all) the next year or 2.

Speaking of Von Miller ran across an insane article from the Denver Post. I couldn't read the entire thing because it got absurd. Mark Kizsla's an idiot.

Kizsla: cry for all the good times Von Miller gave the Bronco Country, But dry those eyes and see his responsibility for team's current sad state (11/1/21)

Part of the article.

But the Broncos won't ever get back the $114 million of misplaced faith they showed Von during the summer of 2016.

It was misplace faith to give him that contract? And it only took him five years to say this. Holy shit.

some of this is true but other than Moss and Gronk it's not like he was surrounded by elite players. Maybe Welker and Edelman but thinking Brady (or Manning) made them and not the other way around). Brady getting ball away quickly helps keep those sacks and hits as much as the O-lineman.

Did you see it? claims wide open and one of the early plays he showed he wasn't really open.

Maybe him and Emily Mayfield should get together for drinks?

It isn't just about a rough rookie season, it's not putting him in the scheme or having the coaching to reach his full potential. Sure if a guy just doesn't have the talent or "it" he isn't making it regardless but there are plenty of coaches that put their QB in danger and are a factor in a way of ruining their career. Not every coach can be good at their job just like everyday life. Like Daniel Jones, why don't you put an effort into getting him a decent OL at best. I'm not a fan of the kid but you never know. What if Tom Brady had an awful OL his first 3 seasons? Well bc BB always made sure was going to be protected, a little luck involved of course but part of that is scheme too. He used his TE's/RB's a lot and in protection.

Half of those highlights were not open lol. Guys were either in position to make a play on the ball or Baker was pressured, throwing on the run, tough throw, etc. It's laughable. All I know is when he does get the ball, he drops it. Could be a mental thing but he isn't the same player.

Right?

Wasn’t that long ago ODB caught EVERYTHING thrown his way and was on track toward becoming an all time great.

Don’t know if it was the success getting to his head, injuries eroding his skills, or both, but he is probably a below average NFL receiver right now.

OK, but that just makes him unsuccessful with that HC. He isn't ruined. If he is any good a better coach could get him to play better.

TB would be fine because TB makes quick decisions. I remember LeCharles Bentley said "want to make a good O-lineman? Find a smart QB who makes quick decisions."

Ohh I agree with you but that also goes along with my point. You don't start a guy that isn't ready, not developed, etc. You aren't putting him in a good position especially if has one of the worst OL's in the NFL. We knew Fields had these issues watching him at Ohio St and honestly he hasn't been playing football that long a high level. They had Dalton starting, I get he got hurt but they had Foles too. I get the urgency to put him on the field but like I said, what good is that doing. He is running for his life. Maybe it's just me but I'm not sure how that is learning lol. A handful of great QB's sat for years or a year: Mahomes, Rodgers, Steve Young...many more. That doesn't mean Fields will be great but it's best for the kid, who hasn't played much football compared to a 4 year guy.
