Need all the good vibes possible, we found out my step son almost certainly has pediatric cancer and if the initial results are to be believed it is a very rare case. 2 specialists have seen him and consider his situation one of a handful they don't know what to do with.

It's a complicated relationship, he is 16 and we've gone around and around for 10 years, But it's tearing my wife up and I've yet to tell my son (his brother). I don't know quite how to approach that one yet.

My dad was recently diagnosed with two types of leukemia so it is never an easy situation…but moreso for your stepson. 16 is so young. He has a lot of life to live.

I am so sorry to hear that. Kids shouldn't be put though something like that. I hope for the best.

Have they given you what stage it is in?

They were going to try to work on the mass on his liver but was worried that he may bleed out as he also has masses in his pancreas, chest, and esophagus. Tuesday they are operating on the chest, so it hasn't actually totally been confirmed as cancer but all the "differential diagnosis" is cancer. So we are not sure yet obviously with that spread if it is cancer it is 3 at the absolute best but most likely 4.
