For the first time all along I’m giving Purdue a chance to beat them after watching them both play tonight.Need UConn to win and I win my bracket
Yeah it will be a close one IMOFor the first time all along I’m giving Purdue a chance to beat them after watching them both play tonight.
Edey will play in the NBA but he isn’t a star. Limited athletically and he will just take up space. The athletic big men he will face will eat him alive. Probably 15-18mpg as a backup big.
That too.Defending athletic bigs isn’t the problem.
It is defending athletic guards in pick and role.
That too.
And like I said......probably Eric Montross 2.0.DJ, that is the reason.
NBA sets revolve around pick and roll.
That has been the biggest change in the league over the past 20 years in terms of how offense is played.
They will relentlessly attack a slow footed big in ways that can’t be exploited in a 1 on 1 matchup.
And like I said......probably Eric Montross 2.0.
Good defensive centers will neutralize that skill. And that is a bad comp.
Montross was a role player in a much friendlier era for big centers because he didn’t have an offensive game. He was a catch and dunk guy.
Edey has a lot of offensive skill.
If he entered the league in the 90s he would have been a top 10 pick and a long time starter.
Good defensive centers will neutralize that skill.
It's different at the NBA level. Just like you mentioned earlier on the defensive end with the pick and roll.
Defensively, he is Montross 2.0.
Offensively, he could be a little better but I think he ends up being a bust. And he is projected to be a lottery pick at #13 or so.
Yeah, Boban is a better comparison. You made a bad comp.
Montross and Edey are nothing alike aside from being big, slow and white.
Edey is 100% good enough to be an offensive asset in today’s NBA. That is not in question.
The question is whether he can defend adequately enough to allow his offense to be on the court.
The Boban comp was a good one. I think Edey is better than Boban and has a better chance to stick as a regular. Boban’s offense was never neutralized. He could score in the NBA.
He was just more of a liability defensively so he couldn’t play.
