Pretty confident all involved knew how this was going to go a year ago. Gabriel is a great person and put up fantastic numbers in Lebbys system. Unless Washington or Texas wins the national title, this is a tainted national champion this year. Michigan’s sign stealing system says they shouldn’t even be included in my opinion and the opinion of many others. It’s just a matter of time before that title would be vacated along with all of Michigan’s wins the last two years. And Alabama may win it all but they haven’t earned inclusion among the 4 teams. Overall, the sport is in danger of taking a real nose dive.
I mean, depends on your definition of 'right result'. If that happens then the committee will have set up a tournament where the actual best team wins it, vs one where the best team isn't in it.

This nebulous criteria is fugaze. Who is to say Georgia doesn’t beat Alabama 7 times out of 10? The committee didn’t pick the 4 best of Georgia isn’t there. They hedged and did a mix of “who earned it” with a desire to get the “4 best”. It’s a fucked up process and they screwed the pooch.
In ten years, college sports will be changed dramatically. You’re going to have two super conferences in the SEC and B10. They’re going to be national conferences and not regional in scope. Additionally, you’re going to have mercenary participation with the over use of the transfer portal spurred by NIL.

Yep, basically a pro league. I hope they completely detach the sport from the colleges so the other sports can go back to regional groupings. Keep the colors and team names and stadiums but no longer tie football to the rest of the college sports.
And there’s a saturation point eventually where the public turns and says nah this is too fucked up.
