Interesting take from a local writer I’ve followed a long time. This is the guy Westbrook hated lol.

@fightinfunbags I think you in particular would enjoy his writing most of the time.

So, the SEC honks all seem to say that the committee went with the 4 best teams. I keep asking why UGA isn't in since most seem to think UGA would be favored against any of the cfp teams.

You could make a strawman army from the replies. lol

More games is always better for the fans.

If fans don't think winning 4 possible games is deserving a champion they need to stop watching football

Every sport on the planet except college football uses some kind of expanded playoff or tournament to determine a winner.

CFB thinking it's some kind of cute exception is ridiculous.

I still think there are factors other than best 4 obviously.

UGA had a weak SOS and they just lost their final game.
Texas beat Bama and dominated in their CCG.
They just lost to Bama, if this loss was earlier in the year they might get in.
Then you have Michigan and Washington both undefeated who were in no matter what.
There is no spot for UGA and Mizzou was their best win.

Literally the only reason FSU didn't make it bc they didn't have their starting QB but we got a 2 game glimpse of what the starter would look like going forward and it was shit. Even a good backup QB and they make it.

The only reason Ohio St made it that one year is bc Cardale, technically the 3rd stringer, went bonkers and put up 59 points vs a top 10 team.

Rodemaker completed 48% of his passes and contributed zero TD's against a 5 win team.
Glenn completed 38% of his passes and contributed zero TD's in his only appearance.

If they have a decent backup they are in the CFP. Also, Bama probably had the best win in the last 10 years. They beat a 2-time back to back champion on a 29 game winning streak. The combination of the two was just bad for FSU.

Like I said before it really sucks though. You win all your games in P5 conference and you don't get in the playoff.

I agree with most of this, though I'll never agree with a team being left out because of an injured player. Either it's about the entire body of work...or it's not.

The "they took the 4 best teams" stuff is what SEC homers are touting now. lol

The problem is that the criteria seems to change, but only in ways that benefit the SEC. Based on all previous precedent, including Cardale Jones, FSU should have been in...but they went against established precedent to keep FSU out and get the SEC in.

The ACC was 6-4 vs the SEC.

Little something to remember.
The SEC had a losing record against the other P5 conferences combined. I still think overall the best conference, but the gap is closing some.

Imo, the gap has never been as big as the mythology has built it up to be.

The only SEC program that has been consistently better than pretty much everyone else is Bama.

UGA, prior to the past couple of seasons had their fanbase calling for Kirby Smarts head.

LSU was heard from a couple of times, but mostly has been what they are this year...a good, but not NC caliber team.

Auburn has a short run with Cam Newton, but has mainly been average to bad.

That's it. Outside of Bama, they've really haven't been that different from any other conference.
