I think that is fair.

His early career reminds me of Cooper Kupp.

Not saying he is taking that leap, because I wouldn’t project that on anybody. But he is a solid WR1 and an elite WR2

I think he is better than Devonta based on what both players have done as number 1s with mediocre QB play.

But I think skill sets are pretty similar.

Smith had a better year stat wise despite having to share targets with a better WR in AJ Brown. Smith had more yards, more yards per catch, more TDs.

And St Brown was their #1. Smith was the clear #2. The Lions actually had one of the best offenses in the NFL at least as far as total offense yardage. Sure, their defense sucked but either way a top offense

In the minds of these guys they’re still thinking “Lions”. It’s why Dabol was coach of the year despite finishing 3-6-1 on the season. People go Gaga when a guy doesn’t suck on a team that they believe is gonna suck. Goff has been All Pro and a QB in the Super Bowl.

Detroit had a top offense. I can’t sit here and say St Brown is that much better than Smith but I do agree St Brown is better. He was a #1. Smith a #2. I do think Smith is capable of being a #1 in a dynamic offense.
