Both players went to places where they felt/knew they would be playing for an NBA finals in June

Lebron was playing in the Finals with a roster full of turds in Cleveland in 2007

You absolutely would not bet big money against the Nets going to the NBA Finals if Lebron signed there tomorrow

Let's not pretend like there isn't a difference. Doesn't mean you have to be critical of either choice, but there is a clear difference.

Warriors without KD are still the favorite.

Wade's 2010 Heat adding Bosh is just another playoff team.

Yeah, I have no problem with KD's move. I think its pretty different from LeBron's, but I have no problem with either. Do whatever you want.

It is different but the end game was the same which was I want to play for the NBA finals in June very frequently.

I just have a problem with not making the obvious distinction between the 2 players

I could care less, Durants' titles to me will always be cheapened

He joined the team he couldnt beat

Yeah he did it in 2007 but he could not get to the finals from 2008-2010. Also felt like there was no way he could beat Boston big 3 without playing with a better group of players which was the reason he felt the need to team up with wade and Bosh.

Yeah, I don't blame KD at all.

It was a weird set of circumstances.

The stars aligned in a crazy way. All in the same offseason:

1) A historically great team barely lost the championship
2) KD became a free agent
3) There was a collosal jump in the salary cap

All 3 of those things happend, giving KD an unprecedented opportunity. Don't blame him for taking it. I don't have to like the result, but I'm not gonna disparage him for doing what a lot of people would've done, either.

Im sure he would have loved to stay in Cleveland, but recruiting better players to play there at the time was impossible......He maxed out in Cleveland with the roster he had.....But he still makes any team he joins into instant title contenders, at least for now, obviously with every year older, that statement becomes less true

Lebron left both times to join up with all stars to make a superteam, plain and simple. He wanted to increase his chances at winning, and so did Durant

it would have been like if LeBron went and joined the CEltics with KG, Allen and Pierce after he lost to them-he would have never lived it down.

it would ahve been absolutely humiliating to him----

but you cant judge Durant and LeBron on the same scale--- one is a top 3 player of all time ---- one is a jock rider who is not close to a top 20 player of all time---lebron should be judged harsher since he is so much better.

So Lebron didn't want to increase his chances at winning? Sure

Sure, but when he leaves those teams, they suck, plain and simple

Durant leaves GS tomorrow, they are in the Finals next season

I'm not if I agree with that but yes they are a finals contender if he leaves. It also should be noted that 2 years after Lebron left, the heat were a win away from the ECF and that was without Chris Bosh. Any doubt Miami knocks off Toronto last year and is facing Cleveland in the ECF with a healthy Bosh?

Agreed. He is a great player....Just happens to be a coward

That's fine considering it is your opinion but if you don't think KD will be a top 20 player at the end of your career then you have issues. I'm sorry.

Im ok with that, as long as you agree they get demolished by Cleveland....Why? Cause Lebron is now on the other side of the court
