That's a very likely scenario. On the flip side though, I just don't see how a rookie is going to alleviate the work load from Lebron this coming season.

True.

I think they'll look to trade the pick for some help.

It'll be interesting though, because Lebron is likely to want them to trade the pick, but the Cavs may not be willing to, especially if Lebron wants to wait and see what they get back before he commits.

They may have to do a repeat of what they did with Wiggins. Draft the player and then try to trade him.

thats what i always thought was the most likely scenario. Give the Lakers one more year to clear out the garbage--- actually have their pick next year as an asset etc....maybe be able to move Deng as he would only have 1 year left after next year . etc.

See what hte Cavs can do--- let the Cavs see how guys like Clarkson, Nance, Hill, maybe Hood can do with a full year of continuity.....see what hte 8th pick becomes.

I mean- if the Cavs hit a home run and can add a mcccollum and sign a solid guy with the mini mid level - i dont see why he would leave the Cavs in the short term.

after that though- it gets kidn of itneresting because if he sticks around 1 more year in clevleand, the following year they have OODLES of cap room.

i mean who really knows.

Another factor might be his son following his legacy at St Mary St V.
Of course his family could remain there even if he chose to play elsewhere.

Depending on how things play out, they may be better served trading that pick.

It's unlikely to be a difference maker type player, especially if the Lakers made the playoffs.

If Lebron decides to stay 1 more season in Cleveland...the Lakers could, in theory, add PG and re-sign Randle this year, trade that pick and Deng's contract next year and have the cap space to add Lebron or another max guy.

I'd prefer Cousins over PG. Give us a legit center.

I'm still too scared of that Achilles. Plus, an elite 2 way wing is more important than a center these days.

Throw one away, so Warriors in 5? That's what I think too.
I think the Cavs have enough to win one on their own plus the "every series Warrior throw away game". That gives them two right there in my book. So it could go seven.

in the West? id say maybe you got a shot at a 7 or 8 in the East if things break right-- but in the West? cmon man.

Denver didn't make it and they are better.

So, who do they pass?

Portland? No.

Utah? No.

Pelicans, Minny? No.

The Spurs, Minny and Thunder could implode.

If the Lakers are the recipient of that talent, obviously.

But, just standing pat?

No.

It's possible. But, nowhere near a sure thing when the teams ahead of them have youth that could also improve.

What would they include in this trade though? If you include Love you better get a star. If not, you have to include bad contracts to get a Mccollum possibly. I mean that could entice Lebron to stay.
