No, he actually didn't. Payton was traded to Milwaukee for Ray.... It would have been interesting to see what could have been with those 2 - but honestly I can't imagine it much better than Payton with the 2 shooters he took in against Chicago - I don't think Ray changes the outcome of that series (even if it wasn't before his time).

Payton had Ray Ray= no championship. The scary thing is Kobe never had a great PG that is one of the best in the league and great assist guy, a plus is he can shoot too

Lol Kobe didnt want a PG that would take away from the ball being in his hands. I didn't get why you spend on Kobe over Kareem

Not a true PG. Paul doesnt need to score to be effective. Great passer and defender. I have Hakeem, that wouldnt make sense lol

Umm...I already had Hakeem. I needed a guard and Kobe with a great or pretty good big men has been very successful throughout his career.

Yeah, I think Hakeem played enough of his career with guards who thought they were the focal point of the offense to be able to handle a ball dominating teammate.

I'm glad you know what Kobe wants bc I GUARANTEE if the league didnt decline the trade for Paul Kobe would have loved it. Paul is also not just a good distributor but a very good outside shooter that Kobe can kick it out too or if he draws a double.

You're not really getting You didn't have to draft Hakeem. You did because he's a better value than Kareem at his number which I agree with. Just like there were many other players with better values than Kobe. And Jerry West is better than him for SGs straight up but people forget basketball existed when he played.
