It does seem contradictory. That said, the game was early and at Eugene. Michigan State, IMO, had that game won and left the girl they brought to the dance. Don't think they make that mistake if they get a mulligan. The way to beat Michigan State is to keep Mariota on the field. I think we will learn something about Michigan State when they play Ohio State. If Ohio State can play them close at Michigan State, then maybe my opinion of Michigan State is inflated. At this point, IMO, they are as good as any team in the country....and that's why they play the game.

Yes they do. Saw a few comments a month ago by the Oregon faithful that saw their team going down the tubes. Glad to see the Ducks have risen to the occasion and are now playing good ball. Still think the defense needs to muscle up some.

They have beat two top 10 rated defenses nationally by a combined 48 points in Stanford and MSU.

Something that just didn't happen in previous seasons. The strength team and coaching staff said that was the priority even if it meant losing a little bit of speed and quickness.

Defense can improve but its a tricky thing. Oregon defense always rates bad becuase of yards. Yards dont win games. this year they happen to be giving up som points too and are right in the middle of that stat. but also look at who they have played. 5 teams in top 25 of total offense. 3 in top 25 scoring. so its not like Oregon has been playing no offense teams.
One thing Oregon does real well though is take the ball away. they are 5th in turn over margin.
