Now I know many of you think that pretty much every problem in the offense can be fixed by Sammy Watkins but this team still has no experience at the skill position. Bringing in a cheap vet that has been around could be good for the young guys. Could a guy like Burleson be a great fit for the Rams?

If he can be gotten cheap, any solid veteran presense is good. I would say the same about Polamalu as well.

Actually we do have experience at the position. Pettis 4th year, Quick & Givens are in their 3rd. Those are called Vets.

I am not sure I would call Quick, Givens and Pettis VETS in that sense of the word. None of them have extensive playing time under there belt. But I understand. Honestly, if we were to take a flyer on someone like that, I would rather roll the dice with Polamalu as a Safety than Burleson as a WR.

I get your point but the only reason why Burlson had any success last season is because of Calvin Johnson. He's constantly double and triple covered. If anything I would get a WR that maybe has 4 or 5 years of solid experience. Not someone who's washed up and going to be riding the bench. We have enough of those already. If anything get Holt in here as an assistant WR coach.

TP ain't going nowhere, you can pretty much take that to the bank. He's going to be like Hines Ward, the Steelers and he will never part.

By adding a veteran presence I mean a guy who's around 30 and played in multiple systems. They need a guy to teach and show the ropes.

...and struggles to stay healthy.

If a team that desperately needs a 2nd receiver like the Lions isn't going to keep him, that should be enough of a warning sign to stay away.

I wouldn't call Quick a vet. I might call a vet though, and have him shot and put out of our misery.

A big part of why the Lions let him go was bc of his cap hit. We saved $5.5mil releasing him. He wasn't the most productive receiver, and his contract far outweighed his production.

He never really did a whole helluva lot here in the D, and I for one am glad he's gone as we can focus on getting a younger talent with more upside. Your team would be smart to do the same.

But can we all agree there would be value in a vet WR whether it be Burleson or someone else?

If you want to ignore absolute beast then at least get a WR coach who can coach WRs! Bring in Torry Holt and or Isaac Bruce to be the WR's coach; the Wr's we have need to learn the science of the position. I believe that is something Torry and Isaac can teach, crisp route running, finding holes in zones, with added focus on catching the football. No go to Nate Burlesky or whatever his name is. Bring them in to help Ray Sherman.
