i will move on , its just about which way i go and that depends on what the name ends up being . it is funny about the 3 stages of grief and moving on

perhaps if that was followed , we wouldnt be where we are in this country today if you actually believe the stated motives

I like the history/intent of Red Tails and representation of it being a black fighter pilot, but the name itself simply doesn't pop or have a flow to me. And not to be a dick or anything, but how does RedHawks honor the black majority of DC exactly?

How would any name “honor” any particular ethnic group “exactly?”

I would think that eliminating a controversial name that is closely connected to a people/ethnic group in favor of a respected term/“nickname” that is closely connected to a people/ethnic group would be honorable to the city that team repesents.

Wouldnt you?

Sure, except RedHawks isn't closely connected to black people, at least not to my knowledge. Red Tails, sure, RedHawks, not so much. Course I could be wrong and if I am I'd like for you to hip me to the connection between black folks and RedHawks.

if you cant use warriors or braves that links back to the history of the team then the whole premise of the name being a slur is false . its about much much more .

that being said i think you should just break away completely and go with renegades or generals or senators or federals and such

not that i would get on board with it but if you try to force a name for the sake of honoring a group of people you may open a can of worms you arent anticipating

if we are trying to give them a win i think we can do better then what a football team is called .

I'm open to that and while I don't speak for or represent any Native American tribes or peoples. I feel confident in saying they'd be open to it as well.

I was watching a piece on ESPN last night and there's a huge problem with NA women/girls being kidnapped/abducted from a reservation in Montana I believe. Never to be seen or heard from again. Drug use, particularly meth and alcohol abuse is off the chart, lack of jobs, lack of opportunity. Hell, if these issues weren't at the levels that they are. This name thing might not be near the issue it is today. Course the issues mentioned above would take a lot more effort n resources and at the state and federal levels than changing the name of a sports team. But by changing the name of a sports team everybody can pat each on the back and say shit like look how far we've come. Schedule a few photo ops and get back to business as usual.

Reports: Three of Dan Snyder’s partners trying to sell stakes in Redskins

and the beat goes on . a new name with the incompetent snyder in charge , what could go wrong ?

This could be a HUGE big deal. The three minority owners are reported to own 40% of the team. One of those three is Mr. Fed Ex. How does that affect the team going forward.

Here is another question. I am former military the so I have no objection to name change being in part related to the military. It doesn't make sense though when it comes to Washington. My question is how do you feel about RR having input into a name when he has less than a year invested in the Redskins?

It should be measured as far as RR is concerned . I don’t think he has a grasp about this team or fans , the skins are in the top ten most valuable franchises In the world according to the last data I have seen . There is a reason for that . We are a losing football team

you know i could soften my stance on the history thing if it had a link to honoring soldiers and vets . i could get behind that and accept the huge eraser coming

As a former sailor who worked in Aviation I think the Tuskegee Airman were some bad dudes but what does it have to do with Washington football?

Nothing as of this moment. But the same could be said about Native Americans and Washington football until GPM relocated the Redskins there.

I didn't see the piece you mentioned on ESPN, but yes - there's a horrible situation with abuse of NA women. I'll post some information on it. Still, as bad as that is - it shouldn't prevent fixing other problems.

Oh they are coming for you next. Someone somewhere could be butthurt over the hint of promoting a Nordic culture

Yes sir, after these fools when this power trip they’ve been on it won’t just stop here. You can find enough folks offended by team names like Vikings, raiders, buccaneers, Yankees, Known Indian killers-cowboys, Pirates, etc. Basically all sports teams are going to have to be named after an animal because they can’t voice their opinion

Packers will be next, because vegetarians will find it offensive as it glorifies the consumption of animals

How about the teams with Indians mascots contribute financial resources to NA communities? Ya know, because the casinos have worked so well to fix social problems there

I would love to see everyone boycott Nike since they seem to stick their nose in the politics every damn time. Reebok makes a good shoe. I know I’ll never own anything Nike related again
