Kid was pretty good at Az St. Don’t know why he’s struggled so bad at the pro level.

His 2022 salary is $1,872,047 of which $673,937 is guaranteed. If he's terrible the Bears can cut him without significant damage.

Patriots traded WR N'Keal Harry to the Bears for a 2024 seventh-round pick.

There's a way to see this optimistically for Harry if you squint hard enough: Byron Pringle is far from a lock outside, and Harry has the tools to be a contested-catch boundary receiver. But he won't have long to impress the Bears coaching staff and this price clearly shows they won't be married to him. The Patriots will save a little over $1.8 million in cap space by moving on from Harry, who they clearly had blocked out of plausible roster spot consideration.

Harry's most memorable play in the NFL is getting Cam to do this:

Plus they only surrender a 2024 7th rd pick. While every pick is valued in this league, a 7th round that the Pats don't even receive until '24 is about as throw-away as it gets. Don't think any devout Bears fan thinks we got a super steal here. I mean Belichick knows talent, so getting rid of a former 1st rounder for a throw-away future pick pretty much speaks volumes as to how he views Harry. But at 6'4/225, he does bring some potential to the table, plus he's only 24 years old. And it's not like the Bears are loaded with WR talent. Assuming he's not a total fuck up, I think Harry has a pretty solid shot at making the team and possibly even doing a little damage.

7th round isn't as throwaway as you think. Eagles got their starting LT and soon to be All-Pro Jordan Mailata in the 7th round. They got Jalen Mills who was a starting CB for them in their Super Bowl year. Beau Allen who was a contributing member of that Super Bowl winning defensive line. And most importantly they got Koy Detmer was the greatest holder to ever play the game of professional football and a pretty damn good QB.

Going to have to rewind to figure this out, but wasn’t there a Pats fan in here comparing this guys’ stats with DK Metcalf or some shit…like a year or 2 ago?

Yup, they are not alone in that regard.

BB seems to miss a lot of first rounders though.
Picking towards the end of the first round is hard and often fruitless. That's why the Rams trade away their firsts round picks, it's why the Chiefs said screw it and drafted CEH, and it why teams try to trade down for more picks. End of the first round means reaching for a premium position player ( because those positions have had all the cream taken already) or settling for positions not touched yet like RBs. So it's understandable he misses on first rounders.

They were "basically the same player."

Baffling even then.

Agreed.

That's why he does way better with later picks where his hard due diligence has more payoff.
